I have been with Apex homes twice and both very pleasant. Never had to pay for anything even when I have had fixes for a broken door, fuse box, window and them painting twice the walls. One of the times they painted with out me even requesting, as they saw it at a house viewing when I was out then promptly called me to ask if I wanted it done. Honestly, they are great if you like the house you'll you fine.
The entire bathroom is mold and mushroom infested. I've asked them to sort it several times and if I'm not happy with their refusal they tell me to move out. Every time. They've resorted to ignoring my emails now. One of the former residents committed suicide and they were rude and dismissive with the poor lads parents. And after all that they've got the front to put the rent up and claim "inflation" as an excuse and gas prices because gas is included. There's no central heating but gas price increases somehow warrant a £50 increase in rent per month. I'm in a studio. My parents 3 bedroom terrace with full central heating, their bill went up by £50 a month ish. During the winter. Every tenant says the same. Every time they're asked anything there's some diatribe about how "we don't do that here, go live somewhere else". Come on everyone - 40 + years since the private sector were given free reign over housing. It's all falling apart and getting more expensive while landlords spend all our money on themselves and whine about how unappreciated they feel. Why are we still accepting this?
Absolutely shocking agency, we are currently student tenants at a property on Brudenell Road. Apex homes have failed to deliver proper health and safety standards throughout this year. Any issues we have had with the house have had to be arranged by us, i myself have had to contact private contractors twice. Many of the 5 star reviews for this page aren't real at all, and it certainly isn't a suitable agency for students. We are currently taking legal action on the company and our landlord who shall not be named. I wouldn't be surprised if this comment is accused for being a "fake review." The landlord we are currently under has been verbally abusive to me, and other tenants at the property.
I first moved into my property with 3 other housemates in July last year. Upon arrival the house was an absolute disgrace. There was mould in multiple bedrooms and the bathroom ceiling was fully BLACK - completely unacceptable as a few of us suffer with asthma. There were plug sockets smashed in many of the rooms with wiring just hanging out, and the house looked like it had not been cleaned in years. We were also never provided a boiler certificate or gas safety certificate - both which are legal requirements. We went to the office to demand a cleaner the same day as we were paying a LOT of money to live in an inhabitable house. They ensured us a cleaner would show up the same day, alas, they did not and we ended up cleaning the house ourselves. When they showed up they asked us what they wanted us to clean, cleaned nothing and then just left. The house is very outdated and needs seriously renovating to warrant such a high price tag. The maintenance repairs were often done quickly, but most of the time they were a botched job and never properly fixed. The company itself should be ashamed of how they have treated me and my fellow housemates this year. I have always paid my rent on time and never caused any trouble for Apex but they insisted on calling me and my family and friends on the phone daily harassing, bullying and verbally abusing us. We even had an occasion where an employee turned up unannounced at the house saying 'he would kick our heads in if the property was in hyde park' and continued to enter everybodies room taking photos without permission. To top it all off - we have been demanded that we need to clean the house from top to bottom despite moving into what you could almost call a pig sty and again have been threatened with extra charges. I hope those who plan on renting have a LOT of money as you'll need it to keep Apex off of your back. I would highly avoid renting with Apex homes as they will attempt to drain every penny you possibly have - even if you have done nothing wrong. We have been personally targeted and it has made my final year in Leeds a living nightmare. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!
Police had to be informed after agency allowed various people into my daughter's accom without her knowledge over the Summer to carry out maintenance and cleaning. All her belongings were removed. She has absolutely nothing left . Agency denied any fault. Currently we are persuing through civil court however I STRONGLY advise against using this agency. Heartless.
