What a place. Definitely will be staying here again. The room was very suitable. The food is next level. Had the beef brisket and it’s literally that good I’d travel 50 miles again just for dinner. If you’re in the area this place is definitely worth a visit..
We usually come here to eat every time we visit York as it is a nice little old fashioned bar with an open fire, good beers and some delicious food that isn't massively overpriced and underwhelming. Never disappoints. Good service and friendly atmosphere.
Red very old coach house/Pub small well kept architectural rooms surround the bar. The pub contains an old Priest hole in the chimney area. Good food and selection of beers. Large beer garden at the side.
Was really busy so we were forced to stand in the small room which has access to the mens toilet.... this was fine until someone opened the door. The smell of urine was so strong i nearly started to wretch. So we chose to go outside in the cold instead.
A fantastic local pub with friendly regulars who accommodated my wife in crutches and welcomed us right away. Dave was to blame for the kind introductions. Thank You! We will definitely be going back especially to sit near the fire place side.
Generally a lovely place, but they really do need to do something about the smell coming from the gents. In the meantime, as long as you avoid that part of the pub you can enjoy lovely service, drinks and ambience at reasonable prices
Bit of an expensive meal for a small frozen pie, home made chips were nice though. Not sure if coors larger always tastes watery as I've not had it before.. two blokes were very loud and swearing every second word, staff should be aware that this will end up getting bad reviews.. they should tell then to lower their voices or stop swearing.. very unpleasant for me and my wife
Great pub with 1 of the best pints of Ruby mild . Staff very friendly and welcoming. Full of history. Food was lovely
Myself & the wife arrived in the city today for our 1st visit. Round corner from hotel we find this beautiful old school pub with huge open fires . We decided to stay & eat off there menu & wow absolutely fantastic food at a great price . The 2 girls behind the bar are very friendly & nothing is to much trouble highly recommended if your in the area.
Has been a while since I was here, but would never go back. Was shouted at by bar staff. When we moved a chair closer to the fire as it was a cold lunchtime, no one else was there. But was made to feel uncomfortable. We left quickly. Never to return.
