As Americans visiting London with a 6 year old we wanted to give her some fun culture she wouldn't get back in the states and not something every other tourist has done so we booked tickets to the city mouse and the country mouse. So glad we did! The theater on the barge was so charming as was the locale where it is currently docked, little Venice. Better yet there seemed to be many Brits here and it was nice to get away from other tourists for a bit and "be a local". The people there were all so kind and it was obvious that there was a passion for this theater and the children it serves. The show itself was great fun, the puppeteering excellent, and our little one can't stop talking about "the cat" and how "silly" he was. One last thing, I didn't catch the name of the lovely lady running the concession but I recognized her from a picture on the barge and when I asked her she said she's been here for 40 years...... that is truly a labor of love and it really showed in everyone we came across at the barge. Highly recommended. I hope this place never goes away, it's like a wonderful trip back in time.
Fantastic experience overall. Great location for a walk around and there's free parking right by on the road in weekends . Very attentive staff and the little theatre inside the boat is just magic, it feels like traveling back in time. The puppets are real pieces of art and the performances are beautiful. My daughters 3 & 4 absolutely loved it. In my opinion, really worth going even if it's without kids.
We are repeat customers at the Puppet Theatre Barge and just saw ‘My Shadow and Me’ with our children. It was the best show yet!! Wow, incredible pure talent and entertaining for the entire family. We could not stop talking about it. Thank you for a memorable experience for all of us.
Fantastic venue with extra special character. We went with our three year old daughter for a Saturday matinee, and all three of us loved the show for various reasons! Imaginative, well thought out, non-commercial entertainment at its finest! We've already booked to go back for a puppet show in May. Great fun & a nice change for a day out!
This was amazing. We absolutely loved this... Recommended 100%. Mesmorising. My 5 year old daughter said it was better than telly. The boat was so big inside. I'm so glad we came here today. Highly recommended
Extraordinary experience! Wonderful to see this age-old form of puppetry performed so skillfully in such a unique setting! Highly recommended
A fantastic experience of watching puppets on a canal barge, which you can only imagine doing when you go with children. In fact the show likes almost more to adults than to children, because it is very poetic. The music very suggestive. Worth also visiting Little Venice ...
Loved it! So cute! Amazing little space run by a little family.
Mixed feelings about this. The show itself was brilliant. Immensely talented people. Great creativity and concept. They also had a wonderful concept of children only seated in the middle rows so that their views won’t be obstructed. The barge itself is old, didn’t feel very clean and had a very “traveller” feel to it. I knew it was on a barge, but I think my expectations were higher in that it may have been modernised or cleaner, etc. Not as dilapidated as it was or felt or smelt. If you bear that in mind, then go with an open mind. The show itself was great.
It's probably the most unique and intimate venue I have visited. Super friendly staff, nice location. Overall a great experience.
