Very nice venue. The play Hot in here was amazing. Looking forward to visiting the theatre more often.
Amazing show - everything including venue 10 out of 10
Interesting venue, first time here. The play was excellent and the level of intimacy the stage allows is great, the actors are right in front of you and they can create a magical atmosphere. Drinks are good as well.
Small, humble but stunning theatre. I experienced extraordinary energy of performance arts.
A lovely little theatre with an incredible line up of eye opening productions. Presenting theatre that makes you think, engage and challenge your ideas / perceptions. Its a tiny space, but with brilliant staff and attention to every detail they've made a beautifully inclusive space that supports inspirational theatre.
Medea Wonderful 70 mins of drama, !the two child actors on stage the entire performance, Keir Edkins-O,Brien and Bobby Smalldridge giving a master class as the sons helpless in the triangular family tragically torn apart. Emma Beattie as the mother so expressed the love of them by taking a final terrible revenge on the father and herself !!! great theater well done all
Saw Medea last night at The Gate Theatre and was captivated. The production 70 minutes is almost completely two young brothers locked in their bedroom trying to amuse themselves while their parents sort out "marriage stuff". The boys were amazing and had real presence on the stage. They fought and played to fill the time while waiting for their parents. Keir Edkins O'Brien who played the older brother was irritated and fond of his brother at the same time and his face was so expressive. When he told Jasper Bobby Smallbridge that he would always be there to look after him, because he was Jasper's big brother and that is what big brothers did, forever, you really wanted to hug him. A pair of really impressive child actors.
Very niche, artist productions. I always receive an unexpected experience every time I go to the gate. The tickets are well priced considering the level of talent running through the place.
Great venue with a great sense of personality. Excellent work created in comfortable settings. Bar downstairs not connected thankfully
The Gate offers some of the best and most diverse plays I have seen in London. And the lay-out of the stage always makes for extremely intimate performances.
