Friendly staff, good facilities and very clean. This hotel exceeded all expectations. The en-suite facilities were nice and very clean. The room itself was good and clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. I’d definitely recommend and would stay again if in the area.Rooms: 5/5
The only thing good was the clean bed sheets!! First impressions was a cheap hostel, the smell of cats pee at entrance, the audacity to sign a waiver not to smoke in room when the bathroom smells of smoke!! Beer bottles and tins on balcony. A wardrobe that couldn't be used as a table and chairs was in front!! Water stains on ceiling and rock hard beds. Don't bother! Budget hotel, not worth the money!!
You get what you pay for - this place was very inexpensive - and we got exactly what we expected. A clean and comfortable place to sleep. No frills. If you want a romantic weekend - go somewhere else. If you're going to be out all day everything is within easy walking distance and want somewhere central to sleep - ideal. It's not posh
Simple rooms at an affordable price... clean and comfortable, but relatively small - does exactly what it says on the tin - don't expect swish, but somewhere to put your head down for the night... they don't serve breakfast, but the pub "the Chambers" near by was great for that.Rooms: 3/5
Basic clean room & amenities for the price. Generous sized bed for two. Close to central Portsmouth. I would not have personally chosen a basement room, curtains kept drawn as window looks out on a dirty wall/yard. Did not sleep well laundry room next door and light permanently on in access hall. Good for one night but not longer. Suggest more milk pots for tea and coffee: need 2 for each drink.
Horrible service, lack of details and photos. Where do I start with this one? First of all, I had no information on how to get inside the building. They made me wait 15 minutes in the rain before they responded. Secondly, my bed sheets had stains on them, as well as the floor itself. And finally, 4 drunk people woke me up at 3 am claiming that the reception sent them to my room to sleep in. Keep in mind, the reception is a tight, small backroom. The drunk people kept on making noise with no word from "reception".... Horrible service. Would. Not. Recommend.
I've stayed here three times now, the first two times were fine, but my third... I'm a fairly tall person 6'4" and as such I spend a lot of my time ducking through doorways and the likes. It's not like my height isn't very obvious, so when I checked in this last time I expected just to be given a similar room to my last one with no obvious height constrictions. Not this time. This time we took an adventure up four flights of stairs to the very peak of the building and the top room. If Hobbits were real, this would be their go to hotel room. The doorway was about 5'5" and I brained myself on leaving my room at least three times You'd think I'd learn. The actual room height was reasonable enough as long as I walk in the middle, but showering and using the toilet became whole new adventures. The shower is right up against the sloped roof and not tall enough to begin with for me to stand under. I spent my shower leaning precariously at 45 degrees trying to wash. Then to add to the fun, any time I wanted to pee I'd either have to mimic the mad angles or sit down. Sitting down isn't exactly a problem really, but even then I had to tilt my head. This experience cost me £75... Really? Especially considering my two previous stays only came to a total of £100 and I had a much more height friendly room. That being said, my first two stays were without issue, and overall this isn't a terrible place. A little bit too expensive if you haven't booked way in advance, and I'd say you're better off in the travelodge down the road if that's the case. Nice enough staff, nice enough quality and standard of maintenance. Oh and the WiFi is pish in the Hobbit room, just an fyi.
One of the worse places I've stayed. Room was massively overpriced for a tiny box room which had 2 beds squashed in, advertised wifi but that wasn't working the entire stay. We wasnt given fresh bedding or towels all week and when we asked for a clean room all they gave us was one towel and some toilet paper, would not stay again the room should be worth £25 a night not £75
This place is so discusting and unhygeinc .Im extremly concerned that the website states it suitable for children when it is certainly not. I had to sleep on the floor with my children due to the beds being extremely dirty , stains over the covers and not being clean at all I have pictures of proof feel free to email me . I contacted the number on the reception door and there was no answer !, infact I had called a few times with no sucess . This is certainly not suitable for children due to unhygienic matters and I can assure you that due to the pictures I have .I do believe health environment should inspect the Portsmouth inn hotel correctly and there should be an inspection taken out thouroghly . The cleaning lady was very snobby and extremely rude , I asked for a refund and she had declined and claimed she didn’t understand anything which is not good when you are working in a place where you must know how to communicate . Not only did my partner pay for this night by his friends card online , when we arrived the woman in reception asked to use his card to confirm the payment .after a few days my partners friend had noticed they had taken money a second time with no permission to do so which is fraud . I’m highly disappointed and would recommend to never stay here unless your unhygienic yourself
Lovely room, pleasant staff cheap and cheerful. Not the place to expect mini fridges or room service its simply a clean fresh bed for the night.
