Story

Queens Hotel is a luxury hotel in Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire. The current hotel was built in 1903 by the architect T.W. Cutler in the Edwardian baroque style in brown terracotta. It replaced the original Southsea House which had been built by the architect Augustus Livesay in 1861 and gutted by a fire on 8 December 1891. The book England describes the hotel as a "Magnificent Edwardian hotel overlooking the Common, with ornate stone-carved balconies and countless neoclassical decorative flourishes". The hotel contains 74 rooms and has two bars and a restaurant. An episode of Mr. Bean starring Rowan Atkinson was filmed at this hotel in 1992, first aired in March 1993.

Attended a wedding there. Lovely venue, but needs a little bit of tender loving care. Food lovely, staff gave us excellent service . Are young waitress chatted to everyone on our table and made sure we had everything that we needed. My mother who is disabled, the staff were really helpful and attentive to her needs. Lovely night.

What a lousy hotel. Our tiny room was roasting hot even on a lovely cool night with radiators off. The windows cannot be opened more than two inches. Upon request, they provided a fan with broken stand which we had to prop up against the furniture. The mattress and pillows seemed to be from medieval times (stuffed with straw?) and then - the coup de grace - the only elevator was filled with a linen trolley during peak check-out time so we had to walk our luggage down 4 flights. All this for $198/night. Without a doubt, you can do better.

Quaint hotel in an old seaside town. Being refurbished, so expect some disruption, however the staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are variable quality and my shower was cold. Good breakfast.

Gorgeous looking hotel inside as well as outside. Great seaside location and absolutely love to have a lunch at their garden in the summer with a live music.

Had a burger in the bar, the meat was well cooked, unfortunately the spinach wasn't washed and this detracted from the rest of the meal. I noticed another customer returned his food as he wasn't impressed with the sandwich contents. It was a glorious sunny day and the garden was very busy, maybe the kitchen staff cut corners that day. I would definitely give it another try.
