Hidden away in the back streets of Canterbury is this little gem. It's mainly a sports bar but spread over a large area of interconnected areas, which is great if you want to be in a large noisy area or just a small area for friends.... Good food and great friendly staff.... well worth a visit...
Tuesday 4th October 18:25. This bar looks like it caters to a sports crowd. Great space, plenty TVs and a solid range of beers; the one I ordered was very tasty. Ideal for watching the football! The only negative, was one female staff member. There was a solid game of football on the TV with Marseille and Sporting Lisbon. Now, there are no other games on. Almost as soon as I sat down, the barmaid changed over to the commentary for the Liverpool Rangers game. Her explanation is “Oh I have to”.. I mean the game isn’t kicking off till 20:00 and its 18:25.. AN HOUR AND A HALF OF COMMENTARY!! AND!! there is no one in the bloody place. Maybe consider catering to those that are in the pub. Sort out the staff!!
Have come many times and absolutely loved the place. However, today 8 June service was appalling. Our table was sticky and the surrounding tables had leftover food and drinks that had probably been sitting there for a while pictured- no one had picked them up. The two girls had an attitude and we had to ask twice for our table to be cleaned as it was disgustingly sticky. Also, when ordering their demeanor was as if they were doing us a favor by serving us. Not coming again
Absolutely loved the place, delicious food and drinks, quick service and feeling like you’re in LA! We didn’t get live music somehow but it was still worth the trip
We came here Friday night to watch a David Bowie tribute band . The pub was very busy with people there for the music or football. Took ages to be served our drinks in dirty glasses. But overall a nice venue.
Went for a brunch for a joint birthday Amazing food, great cocktails , great staff, friendly and welcoming staff, Jem was personally great, she was our server during our time and was amazing and helped at every stage during our stay
Penny is the worst pub I've ever been to. Customer service is absolutely disgusting. Made a complaint to the GM about another member of staff who then went on to tell us he didn't believe us and thought we were lying? Interesting way to run a business. I've heard from multiple local sources that the management have no care for staff or customers. Food is always cold and tasteless, cocktails are never made to spec, spirits are always under measured, staff are never ever pleasant. I'd rather chuck my money in the drain than spend it in Penny Theatre.
Had an absolutely Awful experience on karaoke night where the deputy manager who was running karaoke made awful gestures about us when me and my friends were performing. When we went to the general manager to complain multiple times we were told she is the deptuty manager so it does not matter what she does or that it’ll be followed up but we’re spoken down to in the process and when asked for names or a way to follow up we was told that was not allowed. We were treated like dumb children and will not be returning again. We have been coming to penny for 2 years and alway met with a fun welcoming atmosphere however today it was cold and felt very excluded. This is not the type of atmosphere I expect from a pub like this and to be treated as badly from the general manager and the deputy manager as we were we are appalled.
Louis and Kacey were amazing today they really made the time enjoyable thank you so much! And the food from the chef Ethan was amazing to!
Came for Bingo and it was hilarious. Well run, lovely staff, cheap drinks and amazing food. Will most certainly be coming back. Such a good night 10/10 should go!!!
