Amazing Stay at Astor Museum Hostel! I recently stayed at the Astor Museum Hostel in London, and it exceeded all my expectations! The location is absolutely unbeatable – right next to the British Museum and within walking distance of some of London’s best attractions. It made exploring the city so easy and convenient. The hostel itself has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always available to offer great tips on things to do around the city. They made me feel at home from the moment I checked in. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-maintained. I loved the comfortable beds and the fact that the hostel had plenty of storage space for luggage. The common areas were perfect for meeting fellow travelers, with a vibrant social vibe that made the experience even more enjoyable. Another standout feature was the breakfast – a simple but delicious selection to kickstart the day. The kitchen was well-equipped, and I appreciated the option to prepare meals whenever I needed. Overall, my stay at Astor Museum Hostel was fantastic. It’s an affordable, friendly, and comfortable place that’s perfect for anyone wanting to explore London. I highly recommend it and would definitely stay here again!
I stayed here last May and had an okay experience. The location is fantastic, walking distance to so many tourist sites but also on a relatively quiet street. About half the bathrooms have been renovated. The new ones are very nice, the older ones less so lol. I stayed in the 6 bed female dorm and the room was tiny. The beds are quite rickety, any movement shakes the entire thing. It felt very squished when more than 2 people were in the room. The property is a little dated, our door was sometimes hard to close and we had a leak in the roof that tbf they did fix within 24 hours. They have 2 locked doors to get into the building one you scan and one with a code which I did appreciate from a safety perspective. I paid around 39 pounds a night and would’ve liked something a little nicer at that price, but I guess that’s London for you, everything is expensive.
Excellent location, extremely comfortable bed, and very spacious rooms. Bathrooms are kept clean. Makes for very pleasant experience. There is a smoking area next to the kitchen and sometimes the smell comes into the living areas. But to be honest, given all the niceties, and the very low price, I am not going to count that against them.
Location was excellent, on a calm street yet in central London, so everything you need is close by. Close to British Museum, quaint squares, and lots amenities in local shops. Excellent service by staff, very friendly! Bed was clean and surprisingly comfortable. The dorm room of 10 beds was more spacious than expected.Rooms: 5/5
My wife and I were visiting from Austin, Texas. We stayed in a private room. I texted the front desk staff at 1 in the morning about the toilets needing cleaning; I did not expect a response; not only did the front-desk person respond, she also cleaned the place. I wish I knew her name- went above and beyond our expectations! Thank you so much! The staff, in general, are very affable. Walkability: Easy walk to High Holborn tube station.
Very nice hostel, in a good place. We were in the second house 140m from the hostel, where the private rooms were. Our room looked into to a tiny yard, which allowed us to have the window open the whole night and have good air flow. The only negatives I saw were the lack of a big sink, we had one in our room, but the size is a bit small to wash one's face and the ceiling in the shared showers were rather low. But the water pressure in the showers were great, so I guess win some, lose some. As for the service, the staff were great, especially Tristan and Alexander, the helped me greatly when I was double charged by accident. The situation itself was resolved very quickly and fixed by the manager within 3 days.
I really liked staying here & extended multiple nights. It’s clean, in a good area across from the British museum, and I always felt safe. Staff are kind & considerate and the beds are comfortable. There’s a fan in the room in case it gets hot and decent sized lockers to put your belongings in. Only cons are you’ll need to pay for a towel if you want one and washing/drying is pretty expensive, about $6.40 for both.
The staff are super friendly, and the hostel is the perfect balance of a social hostel and a hostel that stays quiet and peaceful. It's clean, the bunks in the 15 person dorm are very sturdy, and it felt like everyone was respectful of people's privacy. Love the kitchen, grocery stores are very close making it very convient to save money by cooking for yourself. The lounge is small, but more cozy than cramped, and there were movie nights and game nights. Will always stay here when I come to London!
All the staff are nice and helpful except the rude manager who suggested I will look for a hotel after sending me to the third floor even though he promised me twice a bed on the first floor. The windows don't really have a curtain, certainly not a blind, just a small short red fabric that lets all the sun in at morning. But I enjoyed the the small window in the toilet up there to the closed garden behind the building Why all the beds are of red metal? Rooms: The windows don't really have a curtain, certainly not a blind, just a small short red fabric that lets all the sun in In morning. Why all the beds are of red metal?
The staff were doing a great job, the hostel is cozy, with character, charming and very central! Despite my sad personal circumstances at the time of stay, I can't say anything bad. Thanks guys! The attraction list was awesome and the astrology nights and card game evenings - great! Rooms: 4/5
