Astor Museum Inn was my first stay in London while I was searching for a permanent accomodation. The hostel had a great role in making me less homesick and more enthusiastic about the future here. The hostel is always clean and the rules are simple which keeps it a very efficient place with so many guests. The kitchen is the life of the place, I got to meet some amazing people and hear their stories, so different to mine. The staff, all of them are very professional and equally friendly. Their commitment to the hostel is quite evident because they are just a call away at all times. The hostel is right in the centre of London which makes it more appealing. I loved my stay there and I will miss the happy vibes of Astor.
Not the easiest place to find but the rooms were nice and the beds comfy by hostel standards. The rooms suffered badly during the heat however, though a fan was provided. Breakfast offering was quite poor, but overall experience was good. Would stay there again and would recommend the place. Special note: one staff member in particular went above and beyond to help me during an issue, despite him being hugely jetlagged. That alone is worth 4 stars.
We were in a private room on the third floor right next to the restrooms. I had terrible nights of sleep because of the noisy water pump you hear whenever someone opens the tap or takes a shower. You could also see light from the hallway through the door. There was only one toilet per floor which is not a lot. The mattress and pillow were really not comfortables. On a good note, the staff was really kind and helpful.
Uncomfortable, poor wifi, and there is an annex several blocks away you may be placed in. Poor ventilation, forgetful staff. Do not recommend. Much better hostels elsewhere in London. Astor Museum is a scam. I booked for 7 nights, left after 3.
I’ve stayed in probably around 10 hostels over the last year and none have this bad. The downstairs toilet and shower are absolutely disgusting. Was only meant to stay the one night, left to stay at a friend’s. Told staff at reception about stupid noise that I am aware comes with staying in a hostel but not to this capacity, also partially to do with thin walls too? And guy at reception just said okay Lack of respect to the highest! Do not stay here.. find better
Talking about the "hotel" service, for 70£ for a night the room for two is small, very very dirty, we don't have a private bathroom, the shared toilette is dirty. We can't see the difference between private room "hotel" and hostel! We only pay more moneyRooms: 1/5
Really friendly staff, clean and well-maintained dorms and washrooms. The hostel location is great to explore London. It’s very close to the British Museum
They have to locations and when you book they don't tell you. And when you get you might find you need to go to the other place. The other place is not far, but it has no reception and not eating place. The WiFi is slow and barley opens anything than WhatsApp and Google map. I got there 1 am. They told my bed is in the other building. I aske for luggage room and they said there is enough space on my bed with a lock. My luggage was heavy and they saw it. When I get to the other building, I found my bed is in 4th floor. Stairs in the other building are narrow. Toilets had a very small non useable handwashing sink. The toilet was so small with barley one can fit in. The pressure of water in bathroom was so bad. All photos you see are from their main building. So do not decide about booking before making sure that what room in which building you are going to book.
Very helpful staff throughout the visit, always someone available. Comfy clean bed. Perfect after a late train and early start.
Pros: Location was great in London. Fantastic and central location, right next to british museum, and lockers that can be locked to bed. Cons: squeaky beds, unclean bathrooms, unclean shower rooms, and cramped building.
