A fitting repository for the bust of the Honorable Marcus Garvey. Excellent facilities including toilets, Internet access, printing and quiet study areas upstairs. A good collection of ethnically diverse books and pamphlets. The staff were friendly although one lady was a little offhand-perhaps she was busy. I highly recommend this place and don't forget to check on Garvey is one of the World greats!
1st floor, Haringey Services. Diabolicle services. Short staffed, no manners, the customers are extremely rude I hear them around me being so negative about everything in the world, happy people! and the waiting is way too long. Library staff seem ok though but the "security" guards behave like they are active war soldiers and rude. Maybe the were "trained" to behave that way, who knows, but it is appalling/embarrassing. Update; Looks like the library security guard has lost the will to live/work. I heard him snoring whilst suppose to be on duty. Either that or he's just a library visitor who like to wear security guard uniform!
Nice and peaceful local community library with plenty of self study areas, although books are limited there are computers available to use for online research and study.
I hope you reopen very soon. A lot of people rely on public libraries for a safe, peaceful and comfortable place to study or work from. So many local libraries nearby are currently closed.
staff members are so rude when asked to do something they give attitude and are so unwelcoming and unprofessional
By far the loudest library I have ever been in. I don't know who thought of the bright idea to put a piano in the middle of a library! There was literally an entire piano session taking place while other people are trying to focus and study smh. It's bad enough that there is a loud speaker constantly announcing numbers every 10 minutes as if we are all in a motor vehicle department, but then you have multiple staff members that are louder than the patrons. Highly disappointing for a library.
SOS ..Without the residents there is no borough of Haringey, the citizens need help, the responsible Borough of Haringey does not want the good of the citizens. We are not in good health and the owners are threatening us. SOS
Rules rules rules ... staff on the ground floor seemed very much wrapped up in them. They made me walk around the periphery of the large ground floor in a huge circle to get back to 2 foot from where I'd started in order to book a space in the study room upstairs, and then kept me waiting when I got there fir 10 minutes... standing, in spite of age and disabilities.while the library. 'assistant' looked at her computer. Upstairs I went in the lift to smiley friendly, very helpful staff who showed me into the study room. This huge room, with normal seating for about 40 - was empty but for one other. The woman from downstairs followed me up a while later, and told me looking round the empty room full of desks after I'd plugged in laptop and accessories that I was not in my allocated seat. I refused point blank to move at that point. She came up at 3.45 again to tell me off as they were closing and needed that 15 mins to clean the 2 desk spaces that had been occupied. Luckily though, the staff upstairs were friendly warm and flexible. One even came in to offer to get me water. How kind. I wonder if some staff think the library and it's rules are for the benefit of staff only and library users are a low priority. The 3 stars are entirely due to the upstairs staff. Otherwise there'd be NONE.
Went there recently and was disappointed with customer service from some staff older lady. She followed me around whilst I was looking through the books as if I've gonna steal them! Also not worth staying there for studying as not as quiet with some shouting and loud conversations by staff and customers alike. I have been using this library for years and always found the staff polite and cheerful. Maybe the above lady needs updating on customer service!
Had a dreadful experience here a couple of months ago. Older, v rude lady was barking at people for touching books but was wearing her mask like a chinstrap. Told me it was because one of the ties had come loose. Get a new one then? Also made me walk round the whole library, when there was just one other customer in. As she'd walked away in the middle of my asking for help. Shame as I've been coming here for 15 years and always had great service. A young, oriental fairly new recruit, I think helped me with an issue re online access, so props to her. And security also worth a pat on the back for their relaxed, informed attitude. But send the other on a customer service course, asap.
