Quiet with plenty of seating. This library has an upper floor with desks and no bookshelves, ideal for studying or working with your own device. The seats are cushioned and the desks are at a slightly lower height. If you use a laptop, the desk height is more ergonomic than what you can find in most places because you don't strain your shoulders, although you should also use a stand to raise the laptop slightly higher so that you don't strain your neck. Occasionally there are kids in the library and it can get a bit noisy they unfortunately don't have a separate kids' library like Central does. But outside those times it's very quiet.
A safe haven for me to browse books and tuck myself away in. I am incredibly grateful for the wide variety of books, dvds and other reading material that are in stock and are available. There's quite a few computers albeit a little outdated, would appreciate more reading spaces not at tables as well. As someone who struggles with anxiety and wanting to not be noticed too much, getting a catalogue kiosk available and working would be amazing. All in all, this is a childhood place where I fostered and developed my love for reading starting from the manga and comic book section to the life saving YA area and now to the non-fiction shelves where my younger self swore I would never touch. I appreciate the shelter this library has offered me and others. Thank you for all your work to keep it a tidy and respectable place.
Its always freezing when you are trying to study as they keep the windows open. Why? It is in the middle of winter, 3 degrees and the windows are open and the radiator is lukewarm.
Today I attended baby bounce and at the start of the group the group leader singled me and my baby out! The lady adultified and racially discriminated us being the only black people present and she said to me only that if my child stands up she will disturb the group and we will need to leave. This group is for babies to dance and sing along but my child doing it was an issue. This was the worst experience yet and the manager was just as bad as her. It reminded me of Carolyn Bryant - lying on a innocent child
Lovely and well stocked especially with kids books local library. Have been going for years, there are fab baby and toddler activities in a week. Super friendly staff that always recognise you and chat to you when you come in
I’ve had many awful experiences here. A man ate pringles and they fell out his mouth and another man flicked them at me. I have not returned ever since!
Experienced friendly staff...great resources to use at the library from books, newspapers/magazines, to DVD and PC access. Quiet learning space available, with drinking water fascilities, aswell as disability access friendly space and great singing and storytelling for young children. The only complaint I must add is sometimes the library gets a little bit too busy; and you can feel overcrowded at the PCs- as there's not much space inbetween pods for usage. Best kept Library in N5!
The thing is this library is not a library. If there is a criteria for being a library, this one is not fulfilling the criteria for sure. There are always lots of going on inside the library and it is impossible to study here. IMPOSSIBLE If you don't have any hearing AND vision problem. N4 Library can be anything but not a library.
A pretty good public library. A good collection and gets reserved books fairly quickly. The opening hours could be better, it would be good for it to be open later more evenings in the week for people with 9-5 jobs to pick up books.
This is a brilliant library with a wide range of fiction and non-fiction. They have DVDs and CDs. They also have a loyalty card so if you visit 5 times and get 5 stamps, you can rent a CD or DVD for free : They have the full catalogue of Haruki Murakami, John Wyndham and Ian McEwan, three of my favourite authors. Self service available for checkouts and returns but staff are on hand at the desk if you need help.
