The hotel is very nicely located, in a quite neighborhood and on a nice park. There are some food options in the area and it is 2 short blocks from the Elizabeth Line Farringdon stop. Some rooms are better than others however. The first room I was given had virtually no window. It was an interior room with the frosted window with no natural light. As I check in in the morning there were no other rooms available until later that evening. Victor at the front desk was super helpful and hospitable with finding me a new room and moving my luggage while I was out. The new room was great.
The rooms were spacious for London standards and the location is very convenient. Overall value for money is great in Farringdon. What lets the hotel down is the shockingly bad service and attitude from the staff. At every possible interaction during a short stay, I was left frustrated or disappointed: Check-in, Check-out, room service, luggage storage, bar service, restaurant all run by staff who are either inexperienced or couldn't give a shit. For example: At peak check-out time, they wandered off leaving me waiting for 10 minutes and made me miss my train connection. Seated me in a mostly empty restaurant and didn't take an order for 30 minutes while chatting between themselves. If you use it as a location to sleep and avoid every other possible service at the hotel, you will be fine.
Took advantage of their 50% off Steak Night on Thursdays and it was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. Very tender fillet, beautifully cooked and presented. Shame the place wasn't busier as people are clearly missing out on a great meal. Service was faultless as well.
I’m a regular visitor to London for work and have stayed a a full range of hotels in terms of quality. I was really looking forward to this stay, having stayed in a number of Malmaison hotels over the years. I’ve got to start with the positives. The hotel itself overlooks the Charter House and it’s iconic leafy green. The area is close enough to be in the heart of the action but really feels very peaceful. The room I went for was fairly standard for the Malmaison experience, comfy bed, free tea and coffee and premium sky tv channels on the in room TV, as you’d expect at this price point. The most disappointing element of the experience is as the service. Most staff I encountered seemed disinterested. This really surprised me given previous experiences with this brand. I’d called a few days in advance and spoken to someone describing themselves as a manager about an early check in, as I had a fairly short turn around time for my evening plans and the train I’d planned to take was cancelled, leading to me needing to take an earlier one. The ask was 45 minutes early rather than several hours. Despite having asked and been assured it would be possible in advance, when I arrived at the hotel it wasn’t. The result was that I was late. Not the end of the world but annoying, especially from a chain known for its service. What was also inconvenient was the in room shower. Weak and luke warm at best. No amount of tinkering could alter the temperature or pressure in any way. Again as a premium chain, these are the basics. Overall, my take on this hotel is that it’s a nice, quiet and well positioned stay but could do with investing some time in terms of making sure the basics are covered, if they are to attract customers at this price point
We went to Malmaison for an evening meal on our first night in London. We both had the fillet steak and I can honestly say it was the best I have ever had and we eat out regularly in nice steak houses. The service was alsp excellent. There was also a half price deal on which was a bonus but would been happy paying full price. Thank you for a lovely meal and fabulous service.
Service was pretty rigid when it came to moving rooms around in a corporate booking. They wanted permission from someone in the company to edit the booking but wouldn't tell us who, so had to just book extra rooms. Also the sink was blocked in the room I stayed in. Near the barbican though which is a nice buildingRooms: 3/5
Stayed for one night. It's very close to barbican tube station and Farringdon. Perfect location for where I needed to be. Coffees were good and the room was spacious. The only downside was the air con was broken in the room, windows did not open that much but I was given a fan, which just moved hot air around the room.the shower pressure was trickly and the TV chromecast wouldn't cast from my phone. But good breakfast and comfy bed. Rooms: Large and spacious but the air con didn't work so it was a bit of a warm night Food & drinks: Coffees and breakfast was good
Check in & service was rigid, wanted us to adjust details on Booking.com even though that's not where we booked was via corporate travel platform. Good room, good location, but from this experience don't think this hotel should be a preferred partner for corporate travel.Rooms: 5/5
Overall, recommended. A nicely presented hotel. Breakfast is good; cooked options were quickly served with good ingredients. Knocking a star off for the check in process. Despite booking online, at check-in I was made to scan a QR code, and re-enter all my details on my phone, just so they could get an electronic scribbled signature. Make sure you ask for a quiet room; it can be noisy late night or early morning if you overlook the nearby pub. EDIT: Sad that the reply to my criticism is a nonsense justification for an inconvenient procedure. I'm happy to sign something on arrival, just don't make me fill in my details again on a mobile phone!
Booked the restaurant only. Had a lovely 3 course meal with friends. The food & drink were great, and the service matched.Service: 5/5
