Story

Led by Executive Chef, Gary Foulkes, Angler is a dazzling Michelin-starred restaurant on the top floor of South Place Hotel. A favourite of gastronomes, romantics and power lunchers. With seafood at its heart, the ever-changing menu features only seasonal and carefully sourced produce. To complement, Head Sommelier, Benoit Allauzen has compiled an extensive wine list of bottles from both the new and old world.

For special occasions, Angler’s Chef’s View is a semi-private table seating up to 14, showing our chefs at work and vistas of iconic City landmarks such as The Gherkin and the Salesforce Tower (previously The Heron Tower).

Once I found my way in, not straight forward, everything fell into place. This hotel is truly a five-star establishment, and it earns that title. The bar and dining area exude elegance, and the service is top-notch. My junior suite was not only comfortable but also stylish, featuring every amenity I could need. The reception team was attentive, and the location was ideal for sightseeing, with the tube just a four-minute walk away. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit; it felt like a memorable experience; special, and I would definitely recommend it.
This is a really good quality hotel, showing a huge gulf in quality with the industry in New York, especially when it comes to service. The hotel and restaurant were organised, welcoming, and offering excellent food, with stylish and comfortable rooms. Location wise, you are just steps away from a plethora of restaurants, shops, pubs and Liverpool Street station. I really enjoyed staying here
Very happy stay, room is a great size for London much nicer than the Hyde Park Inter-Continental, clean and modern decor, powerful shower with a big tub, we also had a £60 breakfast voucher came with the stay, would love to stay here again!Rooms: 5/5
I stayed here with my partner for one night. I’ve stayed in many 5 star hotels in London and I wouldn’t say the rooms were up to standard. The carpet was stained in areas, the bed side table was damaged and clearly needed a coat of paint and there was marks on the table. The room really needed some TLC. We also found the service very slow, we tried ordering room service and also asked for some milk to make tea. However, no one came and we had to call up and ask again as they had completely forgot. I wouldn’t stay here again, I think there are far better hotels in London for the same price.
Stunning hotel. Exceptional bathrooms with very powerful showers. We ate at the michelin starred restaurant, Angler, on the top floor which was delicious. The only downside was that we would have liked to have continued the evening by having another drink or two in the bar afterwards but the hotel bar was closed by the time we had finished our food. I opted for the vegan breakfast the following morning, and that was delicious. I would highly recommend.
Stayed at SPH for a solo weekend in London and everything was perfect. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted by a stunning ambience and a delightful aromatic. The hotel smells amazing throughout! Check-in was smooth and as a lady travelling solo, the little things like getting help with your luggage and without having to ask for it really means a lot and sets the tone. I stayed in their junior suite and what a luxury experience it was. I fully indulged in the SPH experience and enjoyed the facilities to the fullest. I also dined at their 3 restaurant and the steak was so delicious, their service as always 10/10. Location: in the heart of London, but still quiet and elegant. I drove and easily found parking right off the street which you can pay for with Ringo. The perfect hotel stay!
Two nights in a dream room. Perfect mattress, marble bathroom and chic decor, everything you need to feel good. The welcome was worthy of a 5-star hotel. And the breakfasts were copious and excellent. Thank you to the staff for their kindness and elegance.Rooms: 5/5
Room was big and had one of the most well equipped minibar i have seen. The house keeping was perfect and left the room in perfect condition! The rooms did show signs of some wear and tear. Nothing big, but still noticeable.
Overall it was a lovely experience. The hotel is situated in a wonderful location with great public transport connections via Moorgate and Liverpool Street station. The room itself was beautiful, we stayed in a Junior suite. Which had a wonderful bath and cosy feel with plenty of space. The mini bar was well stocked and a few additions were kindly placed in our room to celebrate an occasion such as a hand written card. Lovely touch! However, a few downsides. You can hear the busy streets of London with sirens and music echoing through the room at night. Granted it was a weekend, definitely louder on the Saturday evening. The shower was not to our taste with the open feel. We used far too many towels trying to dry the floor after use. So despite the aesthetic was far less practical. We did have issues with the lighting flickering when in evening mode. So had to make do with using the reading lights and bathroom lighting in the evenings. Room service was delightful. With great food being served here for breakfast and lunch. Bizarrely, though they don't offer vegan butter at this establishment, despite having a vegan breakfast on the menu. Also, be mindful when you ask for alternative milk oat or soy this request seemed to puzzle the staff we asked. Despite there being a card advertising this as part of the service in the room for tea and coffee. Despite the beautiful rooms. What this hotel really lacks is good service. After a long journey it's always nice to walk into a hotel and feel welcomed. But instead we were greeted by unhappy staff. Who seemed to be giggling and talking amongst themselves at our expense. Too busy to ask if we needed help with our bags. Not the most pleasant check in. Overall, a good hotel, in a prime location for city links. I'm not sure it quite compares to some other 5* hotels we've stayed in. But certainly could be if more work was put into to staffing and quality. Front of house staff could benefit from more training on 5* star service and how to provide a warm and friendly customer experience.
My favorite hotel in the City. Just steps from Moorgate or short walk to Liverpool St Station, great rooms, cool vibe, nice restaurants and bar. Food is good downstairs and Michelin star upstairs. Quiet area on weekends, but pubs and restaurants short walk nearby.Rooms: 5/5
