The room technically has everything you need and the hotel is situated in a practical location close to the train station, however every time I check in there’s some misunderstanding in regards to the check in, f. Ex; when booking online, I pay by card and select a check in time, between 11:00-12:00. I arrive at 12:00, only to be told to wait so the staff can check it the room is even available, seeing as that is dependent on availability?! Nowhere when booking does it say that! Furthermore, on top of the £50 check in/booking fee, they take another £50 on card as you check in: for the ‘safety of their room’. A weird practice, I have never encountered anywhere but here? So while the rooms are affordable, technically they cost double what a travelodge room would cost, seeing as you’re expected to pay upfront and have an additional 50 quid in lieu of safety deposit! The rooms are usually clean, well stocked. My main pet peeve; they don’t serve spoons with their mugs and teas/coffees in the room. … random.
The family room was infested with bed bugs. The reception staff says how do I know. When I said I got photos and videos, they put the blame on me saying I got them from outside. The blanket cover was torn. The staff says that's the way it is. Avoid this place if you can.Rooms: 1/5
We payed through Booking but the website reserved a wrong room too small for us. When we called the assistance, Booking didn’t want help us. Mariam, from Lucky 8 Hotel, were so kind with us finding the right solution without any charge. Thank you!!! I really suggest this hotel!!!
The room was utterly filthy, dirty used mugs and spoons, stained sheets, FILTHY bathroom, sticky floors that your shoes would get stuck too, food splattered on the walls, pillows so matted it had turned into 2 clumps, lights hanging off the walls and dust thick like I’ve never seen before. If that wasn’t enough, upon arrival they told us our booking hadn’t come through despite booking a week prior and having all the confirmation with us. They then demanded another £50 deposit despite our booking saying no additional fees required. We were told we would receive this refund in 3-5 days, it’s a week and a half later and we’ve still not got our money back and they are ignoring all our communications with them.
room is cozy, location very close from underground station and bus station, many restaurants and coffee shops around, receptionist is helpful and kind, breakfast is English.
Rooms good size, beds a little too springy, needs a little attention maintenance wise, but reception very good and well placed for local amenities and there is parking which is well worth itRooms: 4/5
Its a scam. I came from Manchester, when I arrived they told me they had no rooms while they already took the payment. They told me go to the next hotel York Hotel which in reality is a hostel where you share the room with others. When I complained and asked for my money back they said they can’t give my money back even if I don’t stay there. DO NOT BOOK. AVOID.
Clean rooms, no A/C but fans provided. Professional receptionist. TV with access to Netflix. No noise from outside side traffic. Right next to station/public transport. Only remark would be that you can hear the neighbors upstairs when walking. But all in all a good experience for money paid
Booked one night here. Went to reception and then got told to go to best western across the road as would need to have a room over there as rooms weren’t available in lucky 8. Lucky 8 and best western are linked somehow. Went to best western reception and got given keys and told to go to yet another building over the road. Got to room which was quite big for a triple room. The beds were not the best and the walls and floors shocking as could hear people walking around so take some earplugs. Wouldn’t stay here again.
Dusty and too cramped. I understand that it is London but there was barely any walk space. They didn’t have a fridge and water in the rooms, you had to go buy cold water. The bathroom was just not at all what I was expecting. No tub or glass walls for the shower so the entire bathroom floor will get wet and no place for you to place your clothes without them getting wet. They did not clean the room properly. They were in and out within 2 minutes and that was them just quickly wiping the bathroom floor and vacuuming the carpet but in just the tiny entrance area for less than a minute. They only had one iron and stand for the entire hotel and the iron had some weird black stuff on it so it would stain your clothes. Our room was not provided a blow dryer where as another room was. Some drawers wouldn’t open and some wouldn’t close. There was a musty dank smell every time you walked into the room. The breakfast was not good. Only good thing was the hash browns and the yogurt everything else was disappointing and not worth it. The receptionists were absolutely disgusting. This dyed blonde girl with glasses was the worst one. They were extremely disrespectful and did not treat their guests with respect. The blonde chick especially was just a disgusting human being. She continued to play race and gender cards to try and gaslight the guests who had complaints. She is a hypocrite and should be fired. Overall the entirety of the reception was utter nonsense and does not live up to proper standards of how a hotel should be run. Absolutely nothing good about this hotel. There was definitely some illegal stuff happening here considering there was yelling outside the window all the time and the smell of weed. The fact that there were numerous young teens with no parents staying was a major red flag. Do not stay at this poor excuse of a hotel. There are probably better places than this dump.
