Review of Leonardo Hotel DerbynOverall, this hotel represents poor value for money. While prices are not exceptionally high, similar rates elsewhere deliver a significantly better experience.nThe hotel itself is dated and uninspiring, with rooms and common areas that feel firmly stuck in the early 1990s. A major refurbishment or complete overhaul is badly needed to bring it up to modern standards.nService levels are well below expectations, with the hotel appearing severely understaffed. Bar service is disorganised, relying on a ring-a-bell system while staff rush around without clear ownership or presence.nThe food offering is extremely poor for the price charged. Simple basics are missing — meals arrive without cutlery or condiments, and overall quality is unacceptable. Charging over £5 for a bottle of water only reinforces the sense of poor value.nFinal rating: 1 out of 5nThis hotel charges mid-range prices for low-end quality, weak service, and outdated facilities. Not recommended
Leonardo Hotel Derby – Short Review nCheck-in was smooth, quick, and very well organised, making a great first impression from the moment I arrived. The hotel itself is clean, modern, and comfortable, with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere throughout. The rooms are well set up, quiet, and ideal for a good night’s rest.nBreakfast was excellent — a great selection, fresh, well organised, and just what you need to start the day properly. The staff were friendly, professional, and always helpful, which made the stay even more enjoyable.nLonely Traveler Productions really enjoyed staying here and would happily recommend the Leonardo Hotel Derby for both business and leisure stays
Nice hotel. Food was good and the staff very pleasant. The only draw back is that there is no onsite parking but there is a secure multi-story carpark a couple of minutes walk away which is subsidised by the hotel. Would stay again though.
Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Beds are a bit soft for my liking but room was great and clean. Breakfast was lovely. Great quality food and a good variety. There is parking below the hotel but if you're not early, you will need to find somewhere else to park. Dinner was a bit of a miss because some chicken thighs and salad set me back £20 and it was just average. I recommend eating out for dinner.
We were allocated an accessible room upon arrival which we didn't request & wasn't explained at check-in. We only realised this after unpacking. We did enquire at reception why this had happened but were met with disinterest & apathy. The poor experience we had was somewhat redeemed by a lovely receptionist upon departure who was lovely & personable & who waived the car-parking fee, despite me not saying anything about our poor experience. We've used this hotel before & will probably use it again; however, we'll check the facilities next time before unpacking.
