We live in Southend, but have been visiting this pub for years, mainly for lunch, and always enjoyed the food, wine and beer! The staff was and is still is very helpful and friendly. Kate always looks after us very attentively and with a lovely smile! The garden in the spring and summer is just too lovely for words and how Jim, the landlord, finds time to create such beauty with his baskets and the rest of the garden is a mystery. Maybe it was time to find a new chef to take over and give Jim more time for the garden? We really are delighted! Dave has added new, quite ambitious and delectable dishes to the menu. Every dish we had over the last few visits was fabulous and had more than a touch of class about it, while still being very reasonably priced! The dog and cat lend the pub a homely atmosphere. I could go on!

Lovely cosy pub with staff who can not do enough for you. Very accomodating and friendly. Landlord is lovely too! Really would recommend and look forward to returning
