Kelvedon Hatch Camping and Caravanning Club

Story

Our pretty Kelvedon Hatch Club campsite in the heart of leafy Essex serves those campers seeking the excitement and attractions of the capital as well as those looking for a relaxing break on the Essex coast.

This 90-pitch campsite is secluded and peaceful and has a really rural feel. All forms of camping is catered for here with a range of facilities including a parent and child room, children’s play area and an excellent dog walk.

The pretty village of Kelvedon Hatch – best known for its once-secret nuclear bunker, now a museum, is close by. Also close is Brentwood, with Mountnessing Windmill – a restored, working post mill – and Old MacDonald’s Farm, a leisure park aimed at children. You can also catch a train from the town to London – buses to the station stop half a mile from site with trains leaving every 10 minutes to the city.

For some beach action, head to Southend. Three Shells, the town’s most central beach, offers easy access to Adventure Island, the Pier and numerous shops, cafes and amusements. Also try the Blue Flag, dog-friendly Canvey Island Beach in the Thames Estuary and the Blue Flag Sandy Shoebury East and Shoeburyness Beaches.

The site is OK but it is muddy and there is a marshy area . There is no proper disabled site scooters and wheelchairs get stuck in the mud. I imagine that there will be a lot of mosquitos during the summer. We stayed there but found that the parking barriers come down early. We prefer to go to Theobalds park who are really disabled and family friendly.

Good site for a few days but a bit out of the way and you will need a car to access shops and town etc.

Great site! Stayed for 2 nights for V Festival. The amenities consisted of a children's playground washing lines, water and power points, toilet and ladies and gents seperate shower blocks and a cleaning block for washing dishes etc. All were impressively spotless the whole time we were there. Staff were welcoming and happy to help and I would definitely consider using this site again.
