My review is based on what I would expect of a Hilton hotel and my two stays at the Cambridge Premiere Inn newly opened.nnThe Hilton is of course clean and you can be sure of a decent level of comfort. In this regard the Premier Inn was the same.nIt has a large lounge area but empty and no piano player or staff so didn’t feel like it was aimed for use - perhaps low season?nnHowever - knowing we are staying as a couple there was oddly only one pack of biscuits in the room and no herbal/non caffeine teas? Plus a chipped water glass left for us to use!nAlso it was barely half full but we were given a room with a sloping wall so the curtain couldn’t block light properly and that disrupted our sleep past sunrise. We tried to call house keeping / switchboard for extra blankets etc but no one picks up - quite unusual even if low capacity?nYou’re given two large pillows but very soft so you sink in the middle.nnPicky points perhaps but the premiere inn cost significantly less on our last two visits and didn’t have any of these issues other than no phone at all to call down. We only stayed at the Hilton as it was cheaper than the premiere inn on this occasion.nnHaven’t tried the food but the Hilton has more restaurant and high tea options but I’m sure you can walk in for those. Overall if you want a fancy hotel experience go for the Hilton but room wise the premiere in was preferable if saving money.
Stayed here over Christmas Eve for 2 nights, 2 rooms with my family. I personally don’t think this Hilton at Cambridge deserves 5 stars. As reviewed by others, this hotel needs a renovation and update on their polices.nFor starters, toilets have to be renovated, especially the flushing handle on the wall. Take away the bath tub as well and modernise the whole toilet. The room, though, nis spacious enough for two, clean and tidy. However the lighting system/switches have to be modernised as well, a master switch for on/off for start and also an espresso machine.nThe lobby. Have to be made more welcoming, warm and “posh” for visitors and guests so as to uphold the Hilton brand. The whole first impression from the carpark, escalator/stairs up the lobby can be redesigned or renovated, to give the Hilton prestigious feel as well.nFront desk staff can be trained to make guests feel more welcomed. More smiles on the faces will be a good start.nAlso please look at allowing Chromecast for your tvs as we have Netflix, YouTube and Disney accounts now.
Sunday 11th JanuarynAn excellent hotel, great loungenand breakfast.nDisappointed in the hot drinks machine, the coffee was omly warm.nAnd wailing singers pouring their woeful hearts out loudly didn't go down too well with us either at 7.30 am.nAfter breakfast is fine but not first thing in the morning.nThe music should be relaxing, low key and volume the same
Stayed 2 nights as we were meeting friends and doing Christmas shopping. On arrival our car was valet parked for us which was a treat. First impressions of going up the escalator to reception was that it felt luxurious and very christmassy with the lights and decorations. We had a free glass of prosecco as we booked in. Room was great , very quiet, clean and lovely view of the old buildings in the street. Bar was comfortable and with a friendly barman. Buffet breakfast was very good, all the choice you need and hit and good quality. It was a lovely touch to be shown to our table each day and have the buffet explained on the first day. Felt really spoiled and was a lovely weekend. Location is fantastic for doing anything in cambridge. Will definitely return.
Loved this hotel. Rooms large and staff very good. Great location. Parking is pricy but well worth it for concierge parking. Would love to stay again.
