We went in today with my mother in law for some lunch. The place looks absolutely stunning with he refurb and I wish it well. The new chef is still finding her feet, but the food was delicious. The chips were a little cold and slightly overdone - which would be fine with chunky chips, but not fries. The mother in law had the haddock and said it was one of the best she has ever had. The batter was absolutely perfect. A big thumbs up for the rhubarb crumble as well. Very nice. We will definitely be back - to check the chips. :
Brilliant pub and great food. The host is amazing. Had a small regimental gathering at this place and everything was purrrrrfic XX. Well done Jonathan Wolstenholme credit goes out to you
Called today for lunch with my son. First time but will not be my last. Lovely food, polite staff. The building has been renovated and it is lovely. Good value food, fresh and tasty Highly recommend.
The refit has left the Hamers unrecognisable. Very clean modern interior. The food was very good. Wine and service excellent. A young very well informed polite team. Only slight comment. It was a little chilly we were in early evening but would of enjoyed the fire being lit. Good luck. You deserve to do well.....
Phoned for a table last minute. Professional manner over telephone. Nothing any trouble. Leek and potatoe soup was so tasty with fresh doorstop bread and real butter. The roast beef lunch came with home made Yorkshire pudding, creamy mash, well done roast potatoes, seasonal veg, and the most amazing cauliflower cheese. Absolutely stunning and very plentiful. Highly recommend. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Loved it nice clean pub. The food was excellent. Bar staff spot on and extremely friendly. Nice log fire . Thanks for a pleasant evening.
Lovely pub, quiz on Tuesday is worth going to! Not eaten there yet but food looked good
On entering the building was met with a lovely warm welcome from the owner and all the staff were jovial, helpful and chatty. The inn has had an incredible refurbishment, it's very spacious inside and also there is a beer garden which at the time of visiting coped with about 30+ people. We also tried some of the food on offer and I can tell you that the chilli n chips and the steak burger were both cooked well and tasted fantastic. There was always enough bar staff to cater for the amount of people that were at the bar at anyone time. Overall it was a warm and wonderful experience, we will be visiting again. I'd loke to thank John and his staff for all the hardwork.
Nice surroundings, friendly staff, dog friendly good quality food cooked to a high standard! Only downside was over an hours wait for food when only one other couple was eating!
Had the roast beef Sunday lunch today which was delicious and the service was excellent
