I would urge caution when shopping here, particularly for automotive tools. I can only speak from my own experience, but it has been extremely disappointing.nnOn 6 February, between 4–5 pm, I purchased a car jack set set of 5 for £110 from the Halfords Bletchley branch. This was my first in-store purchase from Halfords for car tools. Before buying, I specifically asked the cashier whether I could return the tools if, due to my inexperience, I was unable to jack up my car. I was explicitly told that I could return them as long as everything was put back in the box, the receipt was kept, and the return was made within 30 days. This reassurance directly informed my decision to proceed with the purchase.nnOn 9 February, after being unable to remove my wheel because the wrench supplied was not the correct size as described, I attempted to return the item. I was then told by a different cashier that because the tools had been used, I was not eligible for a refund. This directly contradicted what I had been told at the point of sale and came as a complete surprise.nnWhen I challenged this, both staff and the store manager effectively treated me as if I were lying. I was sent on what felt like a wild goose chase, suggesting CCTV would prove the interaction, then telling me to contact customer service, who in turn informed me that the cameras do not record audio. I was advised to escalate the issue via complaints, which I did, assuming it would be reviewed independently of the store.nnInstead, the complaint was mishandled. It was initially routed to the wrong store manager, who then had to redirect customer service back to the original branch manager. After calling again today in the hope of resolution, I learned that the only action taken was to contact the same store manager who had already dismissed my account despite the fact that the staff disputing my claim were not present during the original sale. Unsurprisingly, my refund was rejected again.nnI am genuinely baffled that staff can misinform a customer at the point of purchase, yet the burden of proof falls entirely on the customer to demonstrate that beyond any doubt that they were misled. Unless you can somehow prove this, you are simply out of pocket. I cannot say definitively that misleading customers is intentional, but this experience leaves little confidence in the process or the protections offered to consumers.nnIn summary, if you are considering making a purchase from this particular branch, I strongly advise being absolutely certain about the return policy and, frankly, documenting any assurances given by staff. Recording conversations may be the only protection if misinformation is provided.nnUnfortunately, I did not take that precaution and will now likely have to absorb the cost of this transaction myself.nn**EDIT**nOn top of misinformation and incompetence, they will respond to negative reviews with a copy and paste response and a link that leads to FAQs rather than directly contacting myself or any other customer to resolve the issue. Don't waste my time.
Was greeted by Marie, who was really friendly. Coming from a customer service background myself, it was honestly refreshing to be spoken to like a real person, not just rushed through. She double-checked everything for my car before I bought the battery and even told me about the Halfords membership offer, which helped me save some money on the fitting.nnEric fitted the battery and was great too really good customer service and a proper nice, relaxed chat. Fingers crossed he gets his driving licence soon!
Excellent service from staff and lovely product. The cutest bike for my granddaughter's birthday!nI would definitely use the Bletchly store again.
Totally and utterly unprofessional. They lack the basic knowledge to recommend windscreen wipers, even after they used their IT systems to find the correct model via the vehicle’s registration number. They were more interested in trying to sell me their £9 fitting service rather that the correct windscreen wipers. Unprofessional, lack of customer care, lack of customer service.nnEdit Response: Ruth, I went to Leighton Buzzard to change the wrong windscreen wipers you sold me, and they gave the wrong ones…twice.nBletchley branch didn’t care, Leighton Buzzard didn’t care, your Head Office didn’t care.
Absolutely excellent service today! I went to Halfords to get a headlight fitted. Guy who served me was upselling but did it in a very friendly, not pushy way.nThe guys who fitted my headlamps were efficient and also friendly and professional.nOverall a very happy trip! Thank you!
