One of the top pubs in Derby. A an excellent range of cask and craft beers. Super service in a traditional pub setting.Food: 5/5
If you remember this being an old fashioned, slightly outdated pub think again, It's undergone a big change for the better in my opinion. Refurbished with a brighter more contemporary feel, it's still a traditional pub not a ultra modern bar, it has a similar feeling to Port Street Beer House in Manchester. It also has a nice beer garden, although be warned it can get insanely hot in the summer. They still have a good selection of cask beers; however, they have an emphasis on craft cans/bottles and keg. They probably have the best range of UK brewed craft beer in Derby with some seriously good beers on every single time. The range of cans is excellent with some limited editions and special releases in stock. They also have a wide variety of non beer drinks and non alcoholic drinks. Worth keeping an eye out for events happening, regular tap takeovers from the likes of Buxton, Northern Monk & Cloudwater etc, meet the brewer, Wednesday cheese night, open Mic, quizzes,and food nights, not forgetting beer festivals including the Spring bank holiday festival with food, live music and a massive range of cask beer....it's a yearly highlight to be honest. 12" fresh cooked pizza is available for around £9, Pepperoni, Margarita, and a couple of specials, as are cobs, pork pies, scotch eggs, crisps, peanuts, sweets etc. All the staff are friendly, as are the customers, it's also dog and child friendly especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Stopped by on Vegan night. Outstanding food. Savory snd spice without being too strong. Tapas style. Good size portions. Ordered 4 dishes for 18gbp and it was too much for two of us to finish. Definitely will be back. Had a bit of the Shiny Stout with dinner and it was a good fit. Vegetarian options: Had a whole menus of vegan tapas style food. Greasy and tasty. Some mimicked meat flavors surprisingly well.
I was disappointed they didn't make waffles but pizza with a waffle looking machine, but they got a pass. Service nice, good selection of beers.Service: 5/5

Had a lovely time. Please include a couple of clear beers. I'm old and can't give a toss about trendy cloudy ale.
Didn't eat there, so can't comment, but there's a great range of beers and a good vibe. Great for a prematch drink before getting the bus to the ground.Service: 5/5
Dropped in again at the Furnace Inn for a few pints: As usual, the range of hand-pumped ales was very good indeed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It may not be the most atmospheric pub in Derby, but a nice and comfortable one. And then there's all the beer .... Recommended!
