The Brewery Tap

About

Over 70 beers and a huge range of spirits makes The Tap the specialist drinks venue in Derby.

Story

The Brewery Tap was Derby Brewing Company's first pub. It is a unique Victorian curved building dating back to 1862 and sits on the banks of the river Derwent. After being shut for 2 years it was saved from the clutches of the bulldozers and it then went on the win Derby Camra pub of The Year.

The Brewery Tap combines high Victorian ceilings and imposing windows with exposed brickwork and original wooden floors to create a great pub. There is also a purpose build smoking barn, courtyard and roof terrace overlooking the river, perfect for those fleeting summer months.

We pride ourselves in offering 10 real ales on hand pull, showcasing 5 of our own ales and 5 guest ales. Not to mention a fantastic selection of lagers, wines, spirits and ciders and world beers, there is something for everyone including our legendary racks.

We also serve a great selection of homemade locally sourced food, all prepared and cooked on site. From the old favourites to something a bit different we’re sure you’ll find something to take your fancy on the menu.

Please note this page is monitored Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

Can't give a rating on food as they have not long opened up again with new owners I understand and were not doing food at the point I visited. Very pleasant inside with a great choice of well kept beers reasonably priced. Lady behind the bar did say they were looking to put on 'pub grub' such as pork pies etc soon but were still finding their feet a little. Definitely worth a visit and will be going again.
Looks like an empty place on approach. But inside they have regular tap beers and real ales available. Staff were friendly and polite. Beer was good. Upstairs available to enjoy your drink. Enjoyed my visit.Service: 5/5
Well it has improved with the new decorations but nothing done to the floor so doesn't actually look much different. Alot more high stools put in and less comfortable chairs Good beer selection and a gluten-free ale on tap which my husband was happy about. Butore choice for him in the gluten free beer would be nice
States on their Facebook page which they've been active on since reopening that they're open until 11pm on Sundays. We found the place closed on our first & only visit at 8pm. What type of pub closes at 6pm on a Sunday.Food: 1/5
A popular real ale pub with friendly and welcoming staff. A great range of beers including those from the Derby Brewing Company. We also had some of their burgers, which were very tasty and pretty good value. It's also very conveniently located near the city centre
Really good city center bar that manages to retain a local pub feeling. Excellent selection of alcoholic drinks both cask and keg including tap takeovers/brewery showcases, nice range of continental and craft bottles and cans. Food is provided by El Contador and is Mexican street food, it's also absolutely superb. The brisket tacos are probably the best I've ever had and you get 3 per portion which is really good value; however, between 5 and 9 on a Tuesday you get 2 portions for £10... which is outstanding value. The outside area is small but perfectly decent, the roof terrace is good but you can't smoke or vape on it. Staff are all really nice and friendly. The DBC app is a genius idea, all food and drinks are ordered and payed via it, it's fast, efficient and should probably be copied by other places.
Bit of a weird one, a pub that only serves Mexican food or a mexican restaurant that serves in a pub, either way the food was ok, well presented but definitely street food style, felt like I should have ordered more or a selection of dishes tapas style as i found the portion sizes a little small for me. The nachos were incredibly salty and the whole meal lacked any typical mexican dressings, no sour cream, guac or salsa. For anyone wanting some spice there was nothing on the menu with any, and the only hot sauce available barely added any heat so if your looking for spice take your own. Not sure I'd make a special trip to return but if I was drinking in the pub I'd probably grab some tacos as a snack again.
Beer quality, for cask at least is very poor. Prices on high side compared to other nearby pubs. Needs a good clean/refurbishment. Nice building, and has potential, but not really worth visiting until new owners are found.Atmosphere: 1/5
We were one of the first in on a Sunday and they have a great selection of ales and other drinks. What more can you ask for? The roof top area was welcoming so we could enjoy the early afternoon sun.Food: 5/5
The pub is big. They have an outside area too and a terrace upstairs. They have good selection of beers! We had dinner here and the size was reasonable for the price. The bar tender was so nice answering my questions about beers and even offered me to have a taste before I ordered my choice that night. I recommend this place!
