This station is an unsafe hell-hole and a disaster waiting to happen. The company managing have failed to comply with safety measures and has left passengers like me feeling completely unsafe and overwhelmed by the lack of staff, police and available exits.
Standard tube station served by the northern and victoria lines. I'm surprised how many escalators you need to take 3 escalators to & from the platforms and to & from the ground floor. Poor connection for the overground and national rail, making you go outside and inside to get to the overground and national rail. I'm surprised how there's a lift from the termini to the ticket hall on the tube despite no step free access on the tube. Standard station altogether.
A small station for you to interchange between Victoria and Northern lines. There are no toilets in the underground station. You will have to come out of the station and go to the main railway station if you want to access toilets and food places e.g Burger King, Sainsbury’s, Nando’s, Pret, WHSmith.nnBare in mind there are two sets of escalators in order to get upstairs if you are from Victoria or from Charing Cross northbound platforms. It takes approximately 2-4 mins to get all the way rail station concourse… so keep that in mind if you are rushing for train.
I have approached the gate to the platform 5 minutes before my trains departure. I'm pretty sure I can just tap my card PAYG. At this point, I asked the staff member if that's correct, seeking reassurance as I'm an anxious individual. The staff member said that it's completely impossible and I have to run to the ticket machine. A bit concerned and confused, I tapped my card. The gate has opened. I went on Google to double-check, and it does say I may use contactless. Why does the staff just stand there not knowing what to advise???
Visited this station on a hidden London tour of the dissused parts of the station.nThere was some really interesting parts of this station that is not seen by the public.nIt was interesting to see one of the platforms that is still in use that used to be a island platform with the tube lines each side wich one was filled in and now leaving a really wide platform.nI enjoyed getting to see the old ticket office from back when different companies owned different lines and having a interest in lifts getting to see the dissused lift shaft was interesting to see to.
