Review is for Afternoon Tea. Was excited to try a proper English Tea, found hotel on tea review site. Overall was awesome; tea, food, service were all first rate. And the environment beautiful. Would wholeheartedly recommend and would most happily return. All in all a great experience. Thanks!Service: 5/5
We just had a fabulous stay at The Durrants Hotel! The rooms are on the smaller side but quite comfortable for us since we only slept in the room. In our opinion, the location cannot be beat and the service was all around superb. We definitely recommend and would stay again!Rooms: 4/5
Afternoon Tea was excellent. Great location. Lovely, chaming place and staff. Quiet, relaxing. We took our time. We didn't stay there which is why there is no rating for the room. Food & drinks: Afternoon Tea was excellent.
The lady at check-in wearing gold glasses wasn’t particularly welcoming. Not a single smile or anything to welcome me. Asked for a credit card on check in - which I didn’t have 1 night pre-paid business trip then said they had to empty the mini bar ‘to be safe’ - OKAY. I don’t drink alcohol anyway but I was asked to take a seat at the bar where she said she would come and get me- she did not. I had to go back and check the status of my room and if I was allowed to enter it after growing tired of waiting. The room is in dire need of an update. BADLY Ripped / mauled curtains, stained towels on arrival, chipped paintwork, stained cushions & outdated bedspread. But most of all the staff are a little too snooty and not friendly at all. Wasn’t really directed or shown to my room, nor explained breakfast or dinner / facilities. Just given a key after I had to ask where I should collect it from - hint - it’s not reception A smile and some information could very well transform one’s stay here. Good location, poor views, REALLY LOUD creaking floors above me which had me up from 6am. I was in room 106.
A lovely family owned hotel in the heart of Marylebone. Located on a quiet residential street. Walking distance to Baker Street and the main high street. We were going to a concert and came back to the hotel quite late however, we enjoyed our stroll back followed by a drink at the bar before bed. The bedrooms are clean and tastefully decorated. The hotel has lots of nice period features. The breakfast is freshly prepared. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Based on that we will be returning. A recommended stay for sure.
A lovely family run hotel with great service and charming bars and lounges to sit in. A real gem often overlooked. With Bella Freud candles and cushions - a local business - very nice to see.Rooms: 4/5
Stunning hotel in a perfect location, on a quiet street off of Marylebone High Street and within easy walking distance to so many places. The open fires in the entrance and rooms where you can sit and have a relaxing drink are the introduction to real luxury and it's so well priced for such a beautiful building and stay. The staff are so helpful and so friendly too, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and clean and are well maintained. We had breakfast which isn't like many hotels and kept warm under lights, but each item is freshly cooked. 5 very big stars for this hotel and I look forward to my next stay. I have no idea how anyone could have a bad word to say about this hotel. I had a wonderful time. Safety: Very safe area, I'd happily walk to and fro in the dark, alone Walkability: Very close to Oxford Street, or a walk to Covent Garden or the other way, to Camden market for example.
Great value in a nice location. Friendly service and charming common areas. My room was small, but OK. Rooms: I stayed in a small room which was still very comfortable, with a seemingly refurbished bathroom and hardly any noise from the outside. However, the bed was small, the aircon made noises during the night despite me turning it off, and I was awaken during the night just by people in the adjacent room having a normal conversation. Safety: The location feels very safe. Walkability: Easy walk to a lot of shopping, parks, tube taking you directly to LHR, etc. Food & drinks: Lots of nice restaurants, pubs and cafés nearby.
Lovely hotel with lovely drawing room type seating indoor. We only stopped for a coffee; overpriced at £5.50 for a machine made americano. Lovely place to sitService: 3/5
This hotel is an absolute gem! I stayed for 9 days in May, and I loved every minute. It is EXACTLY what I was looking for in a London hotel – elegant, classic, charming & cozy. The style is timeless, traditional but not stuffy or overdone. I love the classic and comfortable furnishings: the velvet chairs in the dining room; the floral bedspreads and curtains in the bedrooms; the antique chairs and sofas throughout. So many hotels these days have erased all character from their decor and replaced it with white/grey/modern everything. Not so here at Durrants. THANK YOU for that. Please don't ever change. The George bar, with its wood-paneling and leather chairs, is a perfect and cozy spot for a delicious French 75 or cocktail of your choice. I loved inviting friends to meet me for a drink in "my" bar. All of the staff were terrific, especially the concierge, Clive. He was always friendly and professional. If I needed a cab or any advice about London transport, he was very helpful. The location of the hotel is fantastic, on a quiet street just a few blocks from Oxford St. The 139 & 189 bus stop is just down the street. There are plenty of cute shops and cafes in the area. I truly feel that this hotel is my new home in London, and I will definitely be back for another visit.
