We had a family gathering at Durrants, and the hotel could no have been better. The staff were fantastic, the food and drink exemplary, the service marvellous, and the whole atmosphere was friendly, efficient and warm. A tremendous experience and one which we will repeat very soon.
A quirky hotel with old world charm; wonky floors, lots of wood panelling, fireplaces, warren like corridors. A cute bar and snug. Really special, having stayed in loads of bland corporate hotels. Could do with a bit of a refresh, and the restaurant menu is limited. But breakfast is brilliant. I love this little hotel.Rooms: 4/5
I arrived early midday and the porter was not only happy to take care of my luggage, but would have got my key for me if I wasn't heading out for lunch. The staff were extremely helpful and polite throughout, Katy the bar tender deserves a special mention as she is friendly and efficient I had seen previous reviews criticising the bar service, which certainly wasn't a problem for us. The building is lovely, and my room was comfortable and well decorated. There was some traffic noise early morning, but that is central London for you. Will definitely stay here again!
Stayed for 2 nights as I had a work event nearby. I've stayed in a lot of 4*hotels and sadly this wasn't to my liking. The hotel is very classic old style British and although the service from staff was good it didn't have the standard I expected. The rooms have traditional key entry. The floor was uneven in parts. I could only find one power socket near the tea coffee station far from the bed. The shower didn't have hot water when I first tried it...but apparently there was an airlock. So it improved But again this morning the water was only slightly warm. Also the pressure wasnt good. It's probably the worst shower I have had in a 4* hotel. In the breakfast room there was a dead mouse on the floor! I know this is London and mice/rats can be everywhere but good cleaning should have found this. As a Londoner I don't usually stay in London hotels. I travel for business staying in foreign cities. But I am sad to stay that although this hotel has a nice classical British charm about it I won't want to stay here again.
I've stayed at the Durrants Hotel circa a dozen times over the last 4 years and it typically offers a good experience, at a reasonable price at least for central London in a great location, however, it has been noticeable that standards have been declining over the last 6 months, culminating in my stay this weekend: 1 Room - I booked a "superior" Georgian room and so was given the keys to 227, however, upon entry it was noticeable that the art was missing off the walls just sad looking nails left, the furniture was grubby and the walls/ wooden floors were heavily marked from previous guests cases. It felt like a £400 a night bedsit and so whilst the management were excellent in quickly moving me to a much improved alternative 311, it seems odd that 211 is deemed to be "superior". 2 Bar - one of the noticeable themes of all my stays post lockdown is the incredible amount of time that it takes to get a drink, even when there is barely anyone there. It's evident that the barman considers himself a "character", but the environment is not especially welcoming and waiting 20 mins for a bottle of beer to be opened just isn't acceptable. 3 Breakfast - this morning it took nearly 25 mins for my filter coffee to arrive and that was after asking 3 times. The breakfast was incredibly underwhelming, the egg anemic and overcooked, the potato rosti so heavily fried it resembled a hockey puck and the beans + tomatoes dry and tasteless. Service was equally chaotic and so whilst there seemed to be no shortage of staff, there was no sense of order or control of the dining room, with servers rushing everywhere. All of that said, I do have great sympathy for hotels such as the Durrants, as no doubt the shortage of experienced hospitality workers is having a big impact on standards, however, at this price point it is still possible to find hotels that are able to deliver e.g. Chesterfield Mayfair and so whilst it may explain the issues, I don't think it excuses them. Fingers crossed this isn't a terminal decline for what was an excellent family owned hotel, but I guess time will tell.
Excellent service, really helpful and caring staff. Comfortable, cool, quality and delicious food, helpful staff who really looked after me and were very engaging. Will stay again.
A lovely hotel. Classically English, incredible staff and service, delicious breakfast and afternoon tea. Durrants is a hidden gem.
A fabulous visit last week. The staff are so helpful, great location, the food gorgeous and a calm ambience that I found just right after my operation the day before we stayed here as close to the hospital. we will be back.Rooms: 5/5
Visited here for a meeting. So cannot comment in rooms. But service was good. Coffees very nice but not very hot. Lovely decor throughoutService: 5/5
A beautiful old building houses a hotel with memories of a forgotten time. Step inside and be transported to a time of elegance, a time of respect and a time of creating beautiful moments together. Service is excellent. Friendly and helpful. Whether you visit for a drink in the small bar lounge area or a meal in the dining room or whether you stay for a few nights, this is the perfect address to explore the city of London from.
