We travelled as a couple and were given a good seat. Brilliant recommendations on the drinks, we get to taste local spirits and lagers. The salmon trilogy was divine - you get to taste the sweetness of Scottish salmon. The cod fishcakes were brilliant too. We had chicken balmoral and the slow-cooked feather blade of local beef as mains, both perfectly cooked and plated. The staff were friendly and attentive. Loved the experience.
In August 2026 we picked this restaurant for dinner during our brief visit to Skye because it had many gluten free options. Definitely make reservations well in advance during popular months.
Dulse and Brose in Portree is a popular dining spot in Portree. I was lucky to get a reservation and had a wonderful dining experience.nnThe food was great. Very simple in presentation. Nothing overdone. Reminds me of a hearty home cooked meal.nnService was very attentive and helpful.nnThe space is warm and hospitable.nn4 x
Food was really tasty and service was quick, would have been nice if there wasn’t only one veggie main option. Found the interior of the restaurant to be a bit off though as it was very cold, and had overly bright overhead lighting.
Overall good experience. The staff were really lovely, attentive & were helpful in changing our booking there was a family health emergency so we were really delayed making it to Skye. Nice atmosphere.nnOur starters & mains were good but found dessert was quite basic. Also, the Caramelised onion soup for starter was nothing special. I would give 4 star over 5 as I think for what it is, it is overpriced. £21 for Fish & Chips, £29 for duck. Which is similar, if not higher to price points of The Ivy Restaurants in London.nnThe banana crumble was good, however, small for £9 a portion. I found the Sticky Toffee a bit dry/plain and the ice cream quite basic which the menu states comes as 3 scoops, so you end up paying £7.50 for ice cream.nnFor parking, there is limited space directly outside the hotel/restaurant, so I would factor in time to find a parking spot when arriving.
