Excellent food. I had the seafood linguine. My fiancé had the hake risotto. The mushrooms on toast were divine. My only problem was the fact that I could hear the chef whistling incessantly the entire time we were in. It really took away from the atmosphere of the place, which was otherwise peaceful with a beautiful view and pleasant music.
The hidden gem of Portree! We were traveling from London all the way to the North — Scotland! We have traveled to different cities of the UK for a few weeks. We can confidently say that Rosedale has offered some of the best quality of seafood in England we also dined at Shangri-La in London. People have been curious about how fish and chips can be the representation of British cuisine. It’s just deep fried and generally considered as fast-food-chain type of food. We had been ones of those people who couldn’t appreciate the dish until we gave it another shot at Rosedale! We loved how they treated the fresh seafood that they caught at the harbour! The outer layer the deep fried part of the fish was so thin that it was like eating tempura. The fish itself was so fresh and juicy and most importantly, was NOT overcooked!! Well done chef! And the sauce accompanied the fish was just so heavenly to an extent that we asked if we could purchase a jar of their pea puree! Chef Mark was so generous and kind that he gifted us a jar since he heard how much we loved the restaurant and the food there. We went there twice for dinner and we stayed in Portree for only 2 nights as the seafood risotto and chowders were all so so good! Everything was so palatable. Most of the servers were extremely sweet and kind. Just one or two at the reception was an exception of the overall high quality of the restaurant. Still highly recommended and we will return again and again.
Excellent service during our stay. Dinner was delicious. The cod and risotto were perfect as was the cod fish & chips.
Went there 2 nights in a row, New year’s eve and new year’s day. Tried most of their mains, except the fish n chips. Everything was alright, seafood chowder was outstanding.nnBut the risotto was too heavily salted.nnServers were amazing, albeit a slight wait for food.
We've just wrapped up 10 days in Scotland and our meal at Rosedale last week was one of the best we had over our entire time. To be honest, the stunning beauty of Scotland over our 10 days wasn't always matched with the food - and we found many dining options offered much the same fare; often very average; and often at steep prices. Rosedale was very refreshing. A great meal - well cooked and well presented; and really good, friendly and attentive service. Add in wonderful views of the harbour and a reasonable bill and we reckon it was an absolute winner. We would recommend this establishment to anyone pondering the options in Portree.
