A good smear test experience is a rare thing but nurse LN has a brilliant combination of warmth, knowledge and humour that put me totally at ease. Utterly grateful to her for making me comfortable and answering questions with clarity. Please pass this onto her Dr Curran & Partners. She’s amazing!
The receptionists completely ruin this practice. Extremely rude, unhelpful and unkind every time I call to try and book an appointment. Whenever you actually manage to make an appointment after waiting for 15 minutes to book the Drs are lovely. However, booking and getting information on appointments is always really disappointing.
I have been a patient here for 25 years and cannot rate the doctors and medical staff highly enough. As is usual these days they call you to discuss your problem and if they need to see you they ask you in that day. Mandy the phlebotomist is excellent and is also very good on reception, as is one other younger lady. However, there are a couple of morning reception staff that are unhelpful and rude as in the other comments. Given that people wouldn't be attending if there wasn't something that needed treating this is not acceptable. They are dismissive in their approach and do the bare minimum to help. As this is the first point of call they should be trained or replaced. Secondly it would help to have computer literate people on reception.
I feel really lucky that Dr Curran & Partners is my local GP surgery. Everyone including the reception staff, nurses and GPs are kind and friendly and helpful. I had a blood test with Mandy and she was really lovely, good humoured and patient when I felt faint. And I had a phone consultation with Dr C who gave helpful advice and was really emotionally intelligent.
I feel genuinely lucky to be a patient at this surgery. People are very quick to complain, and yes, it can be difficult to get through on the phone to book at 8am, however, the staff are phenomenal here. Amanda on reception is the most helpful lady, she remembers your name and will go out of her way to help far more than I imagine the job description dictates! I owe so much to Dr Fernandes who again, although very clearly busy, never makes you feel rushed and listens and creates such a safe space in the practice. Amanda the nurse has been so accommodating, and wherever possible squeezing you in for a test etc you may need even though there is no actual obligation to help last minute or as an extra. These three in particular have shown such genuine care and support and kindness and have just been so helpful, I really hope they can be recognised in some way as I have lived in various locations with work and I have never seen such a level of care, especially at a time when pressures are high and resources are low. Their simple acts of kindness have made a huge difference to me. People like this make the world a better place!
I couldn’t have asked for a better GP practice during and after my pregnancy. The doctors and nurses are fantastic. Thank you all so much for your hard work!
Booking appointments is very difficult. I have experienced waits of 45+ minutes to speak with a receptionist. The hard work of the clinical team is unfortunately overshadowed by the difficulty of dealing with the practice.
It's impossible to get an appointment without waiting in the cold for hours, or getting extremely lucky in the morning. Their website tries to get me to use the online system, but there's usually nothing available on there, and when there is it's a phone appointment that's weeks away. They don't care and they don't want to see you.
A brilliant surgery which I’ve been at for over 10 years. I’ve moved further away but I won’t change to a closer doctors as this one is so great. All doctors there have been brilliant and do a thorough job. Very personable. I’ve always been extremely phobic of needles/blood tests and Mandy has been so amazing with me that I can now have them without drama and even laugh during them. A transformation! All down to her amazing people skills and memory goodness knows with so many patients how she manages it! You can fairly easily get an appointment if you call first thing in the morning and they rarely run late in my experience.
I have been going to Dr Curran & Partners for 2.5 years. I have found the drs and nurses here to be experienced, helpful and very friendly. However reception can be unwelcoming and abrasive if you call with questions / requests, and I have experienced being hung up on when I have hardly finished speaking. Understandable that the surgery is very busy, but it could be 4 or 5 * if customer service were to be improved.
