Having stayed at Brownber Hall for three nights, we wished we’d stayed longer! Set in beautiful grounds and on the doorstep of Kirby Stephen, Brownber is perfect for those looking to escape to the countryside. We felt welcome from the moment we stepped through the door - greeted with tea, coffee and slices of homemade lemon drizzle cake. The bedrooms were spacious and felt like home with little comforts in every corner. Our favourite highlight were the delicious breakfasts every morning - without spoiling the surprise, there’s a great selection of locally sourced foods catering for all. Make sure to try the apple juice!
Fantastic hotel with warm, 5 star service. Relaxing drawing room in which you can read the papers/have a nap/enjoy a complimentary pot of tea and slice of home-made cake upon your arrival, beautiful rooms with lovely little touches/very comfy beds, and delicious and huge! breakfasts which cater to all tastes and dietary requirements. Peter and Amanda are the perfect hosts - nothing is too much trouble. A wonderful, relaxing home-from-home
We had the most wonderful stay at Brownber Hall. Peter and Amanda were attentive and friendly hosts. The luxurious bedrooms and sitting/dining rooms were a successful eclectic blend of Victorian, retro and shabby chic which created just the right ambience. We loved the retro bar. Food was delicious, high quality and plentiful. The views amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We shall be returning and spreading the word. Can’t wait!
I stayed for one night. Everything was excellent in the room. Breakfast was superb. It was a pleasure to meet Peter. He and his wife have created a lovely hotel which is close enough to the M6 for individuals and/or families to use when commuting from Scotland/northern England to the South. It is equally convenient to the Lake District. A really lovely atmosphere. I unreservedly recommend this Hotel. David McDowall
On first visit we were greeted with a lovely warm welcome. Tea or coffee with scones were offered on arrival. The staff were fantastic making sure our stay was enjoyable. The place itself is full of character. And the views from the front of the hall are just stunning! If you decide to go for a walk there are some great ones just on the doorstep. Plus they offer a packed lunch. We'll definitely be back.
Recently had a 3 night stay at this lovely cosy & comfortable country house b&b. The hosts, Peter & Amanda are delightful & it is obvious that they love their home & surroundings. Delicious breakfasts, cosy lounges & very clean stylish bedroom. We had pizza & salad on one evening & it was perfect! Great walking straight from the door - the gorgeous autumn weather was a real bonus. Thanks to all at Brownber Hall , we hope to return.
Clean and comfortable room. Bed was top notch, comfy and big. Great shower and toiletries provided. Cosy and comfortable lounge area, with honesty bar and has a good selection of drinks to hand. Breakfasts were delicious, as were the evening pizzas that were on offer. Only a short walk to the old train tracks leading to Smardale Viaduct, leading to some good walks. Peter and staff were very welcoming and attentive. Overall could not recommended more highly.
A warm welcome on our arrival with tea and lemon drizzle cake set the tone for the rest of our stay. Our room was clean and cosy, the breakfasts were very tasty and huge, everything you could want for a relaxing break. It was so good we've already booked to return!
Absolutely fantastic. Beautiful location, an extremely comfortable and homely feel and staff were warm and welcoming. All this, together with a great homemade breakfast, makes it the best bed and breakfast we've stayed in. We would highly recommend It!
