A fantastic stay at this hotel, Rooms where clean and of a good size. Shampoo, body wash etc is all hand made and smelt great. Staff are friendly. Menu is maybe a little small, however the food that is on offer is really nice. Restaurant overlooks some water with a small waterfall, really peaceful. Stayed overnight for work for 1 night, however i would say it would be good for couples etc too.
Stayed for one night to break up our long trip. What a lovely hotel this is for weary travellers and holidaymakers alike. It’s great to stay at a hotel that welcomes dogs and people equally. Our room compared perfectly with family members staying in a non-dog room, and we was delighted to find dog bowls, a treat and suggested short and long walks which was very helpful. Rooms were equally welcoming for people too, with beautiful toiletries and refreshments, very comfortable beds and immaculate facilities. Our dinner in the restaurant was beautiful. Everyone ordered a different item from the menu and everyone enjoyed their meals equally. The desert menu was a little disappointing and it would have been good to have one or two extra options. My single suggestion other than this would be to consider single tables, away from other guests, for people with dogs who wish to enjoy a meal. I understand that this may be difficult. I have a blind rescue dog who finds it difficult to judge her environment. When indoors she can be a little defensive. It would be lovely to have a more isolated area to sit to take the stress away from owners dealing with dogs like mine. As a say, purely a suggestion, just something for consideration.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful part of the world. Staff are very good and the Service Stations are always interesting to look around. Not a typical Service Station. One downside was my evening meal, but that was quickly put right. We will definitely return.Rooms: 4/5
A really lovely hotel and quite different from the 'norm'. What immediately struck us when we walked in was the welcoming, relaxed, informal atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. Our room had a stunning view of the moors. Everything was extremely comfortable and we'd have been very happy to stayed for longer if we could. The staff were all pleasant, friendly and helpful We unfortunately weren't able to eat there as the restaurant was pretty booked up - always a good sign, and just means that we'll be a bit more on the ball and book ahead next time! The only slight glitch was that the bathroom could have done with a rather more thorough clean - it wasn't 'dirty' by any means, but the bath had a long, dark hair in it, some of the grouting needed a bit of a refresh and the seal to the shower door was in desperate need of a good scrub hence the '4 stars' rather than a '5'. It's amazing how quiet and restful everything was, considering how close it is to the motorway, a lot of thought had clearly gone into this. We'd booked here as it was so convenient, but it's a genuinely nice place to stay in its own right. Can recommend with no hesitation and I hope that we'll be returning at some point!
Stayed here twice as a break point on a long journey as a young family. The family room was spacious and elegant, very pleased with our stay overall. Staff mostly friendly and breakfast was good, as was supper. Taken a star off because of one or two issues. The lift was looking very tired and didn't work well. I was also surprised that we had to book supper and breakfast times, which was a little frustrating for breakfast considering that it is hard to keep young children to a timetable and we were on holiday.
My wife and I and our two dogs stayed here on our way up to, and our return from, Scotland 28/10 and 12/11/2022. On both occasions we found our room to be spotless, spacious and functional. We found each and every staff member friendly, courteous, and very efficient. Wow, our evening meals and breakfasts were first class and worthy of the price. Beers and wine were also lovely. Having used the service station since 1984, it was always on the to-do list to stay. Sadly, my late father didn’t have the chance to experience what we were able to enjoy. A big thank you Westmoreland, Tebay. Very happy customers.
I have always stopped at Westmorland and Tebay services on route to Scotland. I love it. This led to me staying in the hotel, it did not disapoint. The room had a stunning view, very comfortable with an excellent welcome tray. The food was absolutely delicious. It has a welcoming atmosphere and I can't wait to stay again.Rooms: 5/5
Came across this Hotel by accident, I can't believe it's only 3star, it should be 5star...!!! It's amazing... The staff are very friendly and helpful as I turned up very late with my blind & deaf Dog they were very accommodating... The restaurant should be Michelin stared to be honest. I booked in for a one night stay & in the morning I had to book another night as its so brilliant...!!! Thankyou Westmorland.
Good location, rooms very comfy. A few areas which required attention where water had come through the window in the past. Staff great and food was fab too Will returnRooms: 4/5
This hotel is perfectly situated on the M6 Penrith, offers a quality room and is dog friendly. Our evening meal was only spoilt by a slow service. The bathroom door was in need of replacement as the bottom had suffered water damage.Rooms: 5/5
