Excellent food. I was concerned that the trendy look would not meet my expectations once we sampled the food, especially since I am accustomed to some great family run curry houses in Leicester. However my fears were unfounded as the service was 5 star, the staff knowledgeable and personable, willing to go that extra mile. Would not hesitate to recommend or visit again.
This is a fantastic restaurant right in the heart of Birmingham. The staff are friendly, the prices are reasonable and the cocktails are delicious -- my partner had a Singapore Sling, and it was far better than one I had previously in its home institution, Raffles Hotel, Singapore. The curry is well spiced -- hot is hot but still flavorful, and mild doesn't mean bland. My partner and I had a fantastic time for comparatively little money -- main courses are about £8 each, and there are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and no-nuts recipes on the large menu. The gas basin surroundings are beautiful, and make an excellent after dinner walk. Thoroughly recommend!
Absolutely wonderful food! Unexpectedly in Birmingham on a Sunday evening and we picked Blue Mango to eat and we were not disappointed. Menu was interesting with some different choices and everything we had was excellent. The Lamb Rogan was one of the best I've ever had, and the Dal Makhani was one of the most interesting Dal dishes I've tried. Service was excellent - paced just right. Overall, superb. I couldn't fault anything and we'll definitely be back.
Blue Mango is one of the best Indian restaurants in Birmingham, it's slightly hidden but worth a visit if in town. The atmosphere is very relaxed with friendly staff, the prices are slightly on the high side but worth a visit nonetheless for special occasions.
Travelled from Derby to Birmingham for the weekend and didn't have any idea of any good Indian restaurants so thought we would give this a try. The only slight down side was that we had pre booked a table but had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Apart from that the food was brilliant! We had 2 mains, a starter, 2 naan breads, 2 rice and 2 drinks each all coming to £50. Service was really good and very welcoming and helpful. Definately go back again
Friendly service but unfortunately had one of my worst food poisoning episodes which started as soon as I left and was walking back to my residence!. I did feel a small whiff off what was probably a bit 'raw/old' chicken as a starter but that was masked when dipped in the mint/green sauce on the side. I guess that's caused it. Average food overall.
I went there 2 nights ago with a perception that it would be a great indian food experience as the review here was appealing, however, I could not enjoy any of the three dishes I ordered nor the extra two more dishes they offered as a change, not because it was not good, the food is good quality but not upto the fine indian cusine standard, you would enjoy it if you never had good indian food or if you are very hungry, but you wouldnt enjoy it if you are looking for a real indian experience. I was exteremlly dissapointed for this good ingreadients are not marinated nor spiced enough, I thought I would eat nicer indian food in Birmingham. Staff are good but you can do similar dishes at home, no need to spend 36 pounds for a starter curry rice and dessert with a drink.. this put me off trying more indian resturants in here.. going to italian for tonight dinner.
Very non-descript Indian food. Bog standard British style Indian. Not a proper layered biryani and the lamb curry was fairly non descript. Probably better for big group style catering but not very good generally.
Excellent restaurant, with good food! The drinks were a little expensive, but the portion sizes were definitely worth the price. Excellent service, great night out for us overall!
Our group of four shared some butter chicken, tikka masala, a lamb dish, and a dumpling dish, as well as some sag paneer, garlic naan and rice. I wish there was more room in my stomach, because everything was so delicious. Just the right amount of spicy I'm a medium spicy kinda guy. The service was pretty slow considering there seemed to be more than a half dozen different people showing up at our table for various phases of our meal. Drinks, order taking, food delivery, etc. Still, I would definitely go back for the spot on cuisine!
