Itihaas offers a diverse array of options, from its tantalizing platters to its refreshing non-alcoholic beverages. Unlimited servings cater to hearty appetites, ensuring no guest leaves unsatisfied. However, despite the tempting spread, service falls short, with extended wait times for additional servings even during quieter periods. The quality of chai disappoints, lacking the richness expected. Additionally, the inconvenience of restroom facilities being situated on the ground floor detracts from the overall dining experience. Vegetarian options: A lot under each category Dietary restrictions: A lot of vegetarian options available Parking: Street Parking available next to restaurant but chances of getting them are limited. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu available Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access available but toilets are on the basement
Great food and service! Had been there so many times for dinner and lunch. I highly recommend the Bottomless Thali! Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian selection available Dietary restrictions: You can specify your dietary requirements
The selection of dishes is reasonable, not too many and all the ones we tried were of good quality. The drinks arrived promptly, the mango lassi was ok but the stars were the virgin mocktails, which they were able to do without the syrup for me. The starters were generally ok, we had the sharing platter of which the cod was particularly good. The paneer was also well made, not a hint of rubberiness which you often find in other places. Mains were also good, well spiced but not overbearing, fresh garlic and ginger too. We tried a variety of naans, but the garlic was my favourite. The mature cheese and coriander was ok, better than many places but not fantastic I'm definitely more picky with my cheese as I get older. Desserts were ok, nothing special apart from the gulab jaamun, which were nice and tender rather than the hard rubbery balls you often get in some restaurants. There was a nice celebratory cheesecake compliments of the house which was a nice touch. The service was excellent with some good recommendations from the staff and the atmosphere is cosy with lots of memorabilia from the days of the Raj. While it is a little on the expensive side I think it's a nice treat for a special occasion. Parking: There is limited parking available on the side street, which is free after 6pm.
Itihaas Restaurant is a gem. I came to experience their non - veg thali along with my friend and it was a memorable dining experience. The non-veg thali offers a delightful assortment of flavors and textures. Each dish is crafted to perfection, presenting a harmonious blend of spices and ingredients that leave a lasting impression. I loved the Goan fish curry. The service at Itihaas is top-notch. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and professional, ensuring that every guest feels comfortable and well-attended. From the moment we walked-in, we were greeted with warm smiles and courteous gestures. The decor at Itihaas is stunning, with a pretty and attractive setup that creates a serene and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is meticulously clean and tidy, adding to the overall pleasant dining environment. The calm and relaxed ambience makes it a perfect spot for both casual meals and special occasions. With its superb food, excellent service, and beautiful ambience I would definitely want to revisit the restaurant when in Birmingham.
Fantastic thali brunch today - highly recommend - the flavours were beautiful and authentic. I ordered the executive meat thali and the goan fish curry was phenomenal! The lamb curry too. Very delicious food. Pretty and dark interiors. Only negative would be how slow the waiters were to top up the thali as it’s bottomless and if you’re giving customers 1.5hrs to eat, you should top up quicker. But i will assume this was slow due to food being cooked fresh there and then! The staff also handed my friend the wrong meal but they apologised for the error afterwards and let us keep it. All in all - great food and atmosphere! Brilliant cocktails too!
Had a delicious take away Biryani from Itihaas while visiting Birmingham delivered via Uber eats. Fresh flavours, quality ingredients and a really decent portion, plus free poppadoms. Think it will feed me for at least a couple of meals. A bit more expensive, but a definite step up on your average takeaway and worth every penny.Food: 5/5
First time eating here with my partner. The decor/design is lovely. A waiting area with a chessboard to keep you occupied. Two floors of seating: street level and lower level. We sat in the lower level. There was a private room which was hosting a birthday party. A great ambience and the lovely decor/design continued downstairs. We ordered starters and mains. Kenyan samosa with keema chicken and vegan chilli mushrooms were our starters. Both were absolutely delicious! The mushrooms were chef's . Our mains followed, and we had lamb rogan josh nothing like any lamb rogan josh I've had before and maharaja maachli masala cod in Tempura batter in a rich sauce. We accompanied our mains with basmati rice and mature cheddar and coriander naan served in triangle slices, which made them much more appetising! We ended up having to take some food home as we couldn't finish everything!! The service from the moment we entered until we left was excellent. We weren't rushed or hurried. The food was piping hot. Waiting staff were all pleasant and approachable. Without a doubt, we will be going back! We would 100% recommend this restaurant. Thank you for a wonderful experience, Itihaas.
Highly recommend! Absolutely phenomenal meal. The staff were extremely welcoming and the service was faultless. Their cocktails are amazing. The food was so delicious. A really nice atmosphere and beautifully decorated. I haven’t stopped talking about this place to anyone who will listen! Best Indian restaurant I’ve eaten at ever.Food: 5/5
This place i would highly recommend anyone looking for halal food, food quality is always high the service is excellent and it’s a family friendly place easily accessible and there is street parking and multi-storey parking short walk away. Parking: Free street parking on Sunday’s.
Really enjoyed the food here, far better than Asha’s. High quality food and reasonable prices for what you get. Lamb chops in particular were great, also enjoyed the butter chicken and the chilli chicken. Good portion sizes too. Up there with the best Indian restaurants in Birmingham for sure.Food: 4/5
