Food was fantastic and the portions were generous for the price point. A good selection of cocktails with good 2for1 promo. All of us ordered Thali which were really good value for money. For £17-19pp, you get 5-6 varieties of dips and curries along with a naan bread and lots of rice. The lamb curries were especially good, palatable flavours and tender meat. The only downside is that the restaurant was incredibly busy and the service was slow despite a reservation. That being said, you’d definitely save a lot of waiting time with a reservation. Overall, the service was friendly although slow. I like the vibes of the dinning atmosphere and feel that I get good values for my money. I would definitely come again when I come to Birmingham next time.
Really good atmosphere, relaxed and chilled. Very friendly and polite service. Good value for money. Food was good but not all to my taste. Some flavours I was not used to but was nice experiencing something different. Would happily go again. Wife and kids go more regularly.
Good Place, Nice Ambience, Veg varieties are less. We had chat which was nice. Veg thali was OK, lesser dishes would have been better because how many vegetables one can eat with 1 chapati so you will have to order more.
Read lots of good reviews and my friends also highly rated it. Despite receiving mouldy tomatoes in two of our salads, the food and service was great. They have lots of vegan options and I really enjoyed the daal! The fish curry wasn’t a hit but I recommend the tamatanga fries - spicy and crispy!
The food is excellent and the service is good. So after you have waited for upwards of 40 min and get to the table, you then soak in the amazing ambience and enjoy the delicious food. The curry bowls seemed to be everywhere, choice of small plates choice was good and were tasty. We had the Tandoori chicken and paneer makhni - both were delicious and good portions. Small plates were superb
I went there with work colleagues for causal dinner after work. It was mid week and we didn’t have reservation. The restaurant was busy and We have to wait for about 20 mins before getting a table. The staff was super friendly, once we had a table, we were attended quickly, orders taken and drinks arrived promptly. It didn’t take long for food to arrive either except Biriyani dish which took extra 5-6 minutes. The food was excellent, and flavourful. Green lamb and Railway lamb was not greasy, or had food colours or too much spices to mask low quality food like some restaurants do. Lamb dishes were served with nans 2 or choice of rice. Vegetarian thali had number of curries. Personally I liked non veg food but vegetarian colleagues enjoyed the thali. There was so too much food in the thali for a single person to finish. The atmosphere was very good to complement the food. Prices are reasonable too. I would recommend this restaurant and would visit again..
Worth a visit.. nicely located within a wee distance from new street station. Food is awesome and delicious. Staff is awesome.. this was our 1st restaurant we tried in Birmingham and definitely we will visit again.
Service was excellent; we were able to order drinks within minutes. We had 15 minutes before the 2-4-1 cocktail offer was over so we went to town & ordered 4 each. The staff had no problem with this at all. It’s 2-4-1 every day until 7pm! The cocktails were thoroughly enjoyable & felt potent there’s a broad selection of spirits & flavours so something for everyone. We loved the Vanilla Velvet & Amaretto Colada We ordered the Tamatanga Thali. You get salad, poppadums & chutney, 2 veg dishes, daal of the day, raita, rice, a naan or roti & 2 curries of your choice - £19.95 Who doesn’t a pick’n’mix dinner? We had ours with: Garlic chilli chicken Railway cabin lamb x2 Lamb chettinad The lamb was cooked very well & it was quite lean. All of the curries we chose were labelled as hot/spicy, but for us they weren’t. They were however really flavoursome & totally delicious. As they were small & part of a bigger selection this was fine, but maybe if they’d been ordered as mains we’d have been disappointed. The garlic chilli chicken is a garlic lovers dream! So full of flavour & the chicken was juicy & moreish. We’d definitely order this as a main dish! The accompaniments were decent & a nice variety. We expected the naan to be too big, but it was perfectly sized. Luke went for a coriander one and loved it! The only thing that let it down for us was the dahl. It was total slop! Overall the Thali was good & an excellent choice if it’s your first visit as you get to try lots of things. We’d advise this dish if you don’t plan on doing anything afterwards & can pop your trousers open in the comfort of your own home. We’d go again, but we’d try a proper main next time.
Couldn’t fault it. Welcoming attentive staff. The menu choice was superb with something to suit everyone. Staff knowledge really good in answering food questions. Best garlic Naan I think I’ve ever had! Will be back.
An absolute star of a place. Had a different dish and mock tail over 4 evenings while on a business trip. Every mouthful was better than the previous one. The service and ambience also hold their own alongside the superb food. It doesn’t hurt on the pocket either. Totally recommend and will definitely visit again when back in a town they are in.
