Mr Kumar who dealt with me is one of our many unsung heroes whose job enriches people's lives through their skill. I had a cataract done here and found him personally to be very professional.
Just had an appointment here, left feeling like I'm making my pain up. Had this issue now for 16 months. Also very confused, as my ultrasound does indicate a problem. The consultant completely dismiss one of the issues I was referred for. Just because my pain and issues do not conform with the "text book" test does not mean my pain or issue doesn't exist. 16 months I've had this, pain every day, not being able to do certain things some days but can do it other days.. Maybe I'm so use to this pain now! But I can assure you this isn't made up and the ultrasound is proof.. I give 2 stars for the young lady on reception who's 21st birthday it was. She seemed polite and pleasant.
Understaffed and slow - certainly would not recommend as a private clinic
I recently had a colonoscopy at the Blakelands and overall the experience wasn't too bad . I had asked to be sedated which made the whole procedure go by very quickly and the nurse attending made me feel very much at ease. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was due to the nurse having made 3 attempts to put a IV in me. I could see she was getting increasingly frustrated, with an accompaniment of sighing and tutting, which isn't professional and trust me it did not put my nerves at ease.
Thanks for your support and care during my surgery. Everything at a high level. I recommend this hospital. Very friendly staff. thanks a lot
4 April 2022: Very helpful and friendly staff!! Thank you all for the assistance given to me for my 'follow-up' shoulder operation by Mr Dwyer on the 22nd March. I highly recommend this facility to anyone with health issues!!!!
I attended here a week ago for an urgent Endoscopy via The NHS. On arrival the reception staff were pleasant and the HCA that called me through rarely spoke other than to say my B.P was fine and I just had to put a throwaway gown over my clothes she then showed me to another cubicle to wait. Approximately 1hour later and more than 70 minutes past my appointment time a Dr walked in just said I’m Dr .... and then said sign here without even asking if I understood what I was going to have done he then walked just walked away!! Approximately 10 minutes later a RN came in asked me a couple of questions ref my medication and then walked me into the room where I was to have the Endoscopy and I was told to lay on my back I even still had my outdoor shoes on A lady then appeared in theatre scrubs ? Who and told me she was going to put my venflon in I have the biggest veins possible and as I have been an Emergency Clinician / Officer in the military for 30+ years I was surprised when after 2 attempts in my hand and blew the veins leaving me with blood on my clothes and my back of my hand swollen and then with a Hugh black bruise covering my hand she then tried my other arm and as she withdrew the needle she promptly put that on my chest and forgot to put it in the sharp box even once she left!! The Dr then came in and prepared the scope etc still no explanation or communication other than to give a nurse some instructions. I have had this procedure many times due to the serious health issues I have and I have never had such an appalling experience!! After the procedure I was took back to a cubicle where I was told the name of the nurse who was going to check me as the sedation was worthless as I was given such a small dose even though I did explain what I usually need the Dr would not listen. The procedure was so painful as the Dr was very rough again I have never felt it like that before and the nurse supposedly checking I was ok came in took my B.P and said I will get you some water which he did but luckily I was able to swallow as he walked away not even checking I wasn’t going to choke?? Within 10 minutes of the procedure I was told you can go and was just given a leaflet explaining any side effects to look out for. I was then shown to the door of the waiting room by the nurse not once was I asked how I was getting home which is in a village in South Northamptonshire, whether anyone was at home etc luckily having gone through the procedure many times due to my illness my sister was waiting in her car in the car park no one knew if I was about to drive myself home etc and the reception staff who free did not even say goodbye although I did say thank you and good bye as although I was totally appalled at my treatment and care I still felt it was right to say thank you to the reception staff not that it mattered!! I have spoken to my NHS Consultant who is also appalled by my care and has assured me that I will only get it done now by him every 1-2 months as my condition determines. For a private hospital that people pay to attend or pay private medical insurance I certainly would never want to attend The Blakelands and even though I may have been sent by the NHS due to the pressures they had to get my Endoscopy urgently done they are still obviously paying the private hospital to see NHS patients. I am totally shocked and angry regarding all my care before , during and after the procedure. I would be utterly horrified if any of my staff or myself spoke or treated people in this way. I certainly will never return to this hospital as I am so appalled by the whole process. I am medically qualified plus I have also undergone multiple Endoscopy’s but for someone who hasn’t and also had never had the procedure I’m sure would have been scared and shocked by the care or lack of it!!! I also had to be admitted as an Emergency to my local NHS hospital that evening bleeding +++ due to such a rough procedure My Consultant said and I am still in agony due to the incompetence at your hospital!!!!
Had an appointment booked for 15:30, turned up at 14:25 and was seen within 10 minutes! I was discharged from the hospital before my appointment time was even due. Every single member of staff was polite, professional and put me at ease straight away. I was referred to Blakelands by the NHS and didnt feel that I was treated any differently at all even though I wasn't paying. If you have the money to pay private I cant recommend these guys enough! :
Absolutely a wonderful place so kind and considerate to patients I'm am a really nervous patient but in the hands of blakelands staff they most definitely reassured me I've been there 3 times now 1st time I had my cateract done which I have to say was wonderful 2nd time I had a gastroenterology so for me a big thankyou for making me feel so calm Mrs lesley Cullen
I do not understand how there are any negative reviews, My treatment has been first class, I was treated with absolute respect by every member of staff and could only describe my experience as excellent in every way. Complete respect for Dr Hussain and his team who were absolutely brilliant.
