I recently stayed at The Clayton Hotel, and while there were some positive aspects, I wanted to share feedback on areas that left me somewhat disappointed. Firstly, I have always had immense respect for hospitality staff, as I understand how hard they work to serve guests. However, during my stay, one particular member of the bar/restaurant staff was quite rude and made my family and me feel uncomfortable. The staff member lacked basic customer service skills, taking our table order without any pleasantries such as "please" or "thank you." It felt as though we were being treated poorly, which was quite disheartening. On a more positive note, the hotel room was lovely, but unfortunately, it was not very soundproof. We had an early morning flight and hoped for an early night’s rest. However, the noise from the corridor and the main road, including car horns in the middle of the night, disturbed our sleep. Our room was directly across from the main road roundabout, which contributed to the noise level. I would like to commend the breakfast service, though. The food was delightful, and the staff there were most welcoming, which was greatly appreciated.
Absolutely great hotel, ideal for a business stopover. Walking distance from the airport, I enjoyed an upgrade to the already fantastic rooms. Impeccably clean, the staff are very friendly and there is a lovely and cosy food and drink area with quiet small lounges, if you need some privacy while dining. I’ll definitely come back ;
My family were booked in after cancelled flight. Reception staff excellent. Room very good and comfortable. Breakfast was everything you could want. Staff very friendly and as the 2 children are both coeliac they had vast range of gluten free and separate toaster first hotel ever found that's catered for them properly free shuttle to terminal. All staff were friendly and went that extra bit to make a very bad day better. Big thanks to shuttle drivers for the extra lift back to hotel . Food & drinks: Excellent range for gluten free .
Lovely stay at the Clayton again. We stayed as a family 2 adults and 2 children in a 'double double room' which was lovely and a good size. The room was clean and had everything that we needed. We ate at the hotel restaurant which was lovely and the service was great. A lovely bar area with great service. The breakfast was also lovely, with great choice and again great service. A really nice hotel and we will definitely stay here again. Rooms: Double Double - very spacious and very clean. Beds comfortable.
Our second stay at this hotel when on an early flight the day after. Again, room was spotless and enjoyed the fact the kids sleeping area also had its own tv and sky system for to fall asleep with. On checking in, the lady was friendly, and professional as she helped me navigate the automated system to pick up our room keys and also ensured we were booked on the free transfer bus the following morning at our requested time. If I had to pick a negative, then I’d say that it’d be nice to have a meal package with the hotel room at point of booking. Although we did dine in the bar area and the food was presented in a timely manner and piping hot. Hope to be back in 2025 when we travel again. Rooms: Stayed in the executive family room, standard room but with a second sleeping area for the kids. Sky tv supplied in both areas of the room. Food & drinks: Food and drinks were delivered quite quickly and the food was fresh. Yes it’s a bit on the pricey side when you’re a family of four but the quality of the food is very high.
Arrived as guests of British Airways. Not too far to lug our cases to from the terminal once you know where it is. Friendly efficient reception, nice rooms. Didn't use any facilities except the bar for food and drinks. Service here a tad slow but good when it arrived. On request to reception they can provide a packed breakfast for early travellers. Nice one BA Rooms: Room well appointed, beds comfy . A hotel style but well done.
Avoid from my experience. We booked this hotel as it was close to airport and we had a 6am flight and didn’t want to be tired on our 1st day of holiday. We got the opposite, the insulation/sound proofing is very poor. We hardly slept that night. Banging doors all night long, scrapping chairs floors are laminated. Hotel guest above us was walking/scrapping chair across floor until 2am! You hear everything! I mentioned this issue on check out and was told next time you come they’ll upgrade the room. I won’t be taking that offer up as it’s pointless when the rooms are poorly sound proofed. Airport shuttle service was spot on though. Rooms: Very noisy and warm
Booked a regular double room, but got allocated a disabled friendly room, bed was on wheels and rolled about when you got in it, security lock on door was broken, shower head was uncontrollable so had to be hand held, window was wide open on entry despite it pouring with rain and not warm outside. Bar/restaurant - you cannot order at the bar, you have to use a QR code, but my mobile was charging back in the room; once I get my phone the internet was sketchy so I ask at the bar if I can order food and drink, they declined and said I wasn’t allowed at the bar, finally tracked down someone useful who asked what I wanted to drink, I ordered 2 so that I didn’t have to wait again, I wasn’t offered a food menu so was unable to eat there. With all the hassle I managed to miss the football game I’d gone to the bar to try and watch. Really poor and surely not a 4* hotel, really bad experience. Rooms: Awful
I stayed for counted hours only so it's difficult to give feedback. In general, it seemed to me that the hotel offers an excellent price-quality relationship and is generally very cosy. Also, I loved the 24-hour free shuttle service. However, my sleep quality and hours were severely affected by the fact that there was a lot of ventilation or air conditioning noise in my room continuous humming, whistling and vibration.
Lovely, clean and comfortable hotel. Staff are very helpful. The restaurant serves lovely food, with efficient, polite service. The transport to the terminal is great and the drivers are really helpful and load/unload luggage. Service runs through the night and is free. Would highly recommend The Clayton Hotel.Rooms: 5/5
