Greeted by who we thought was an owner, who's 1st comments to us was, oh your a buy a, gift stay. As if it should make a difference how or who paid for it. The reception area and bar area where the best parts of this, hotel, the, staff in bar area, were very nice but thats where it all ends! The hallways stank of wet dog, thin corridors of old fashioned doors, there was a pile of dirty sheets left by the lift the whole time we were there. The room was absolutely revolting! The window glass was filled with water, heating that didn't work, the bathroom was a health hazard, with a shower panel that didn't fit correctly causing water to leak all over the floor. The bathroom was in need of updating badly. Furniture in bedroom was dated, and mattresses felt like they were 20 years old. The carpets in the bedroom looked absolutely filthy and stank of wet dogs, and in need of a, deep clean. Didn't even attempt to use the kettle. This hotel is aimed at coach party's and if you are not part of one its felt like you were treated differently. Avoid at all costs!! We will not be returning.
Popped in for coffee. I didn't stay at the hotel, so can't comment on the rooms. Hotel looks fine very good location. Good parking. Good accessible entrance. Warm friendly atmosphere. All staff I encountered were professional and efficient.
Used this hotel for the breakfast a few times, always friendly and polite, however today I was welcomed friendly by the receptionist, paid for breakfast with my son, walked in and greeted to sit down, went to collect my sons food first, my friends decided to join and we all sat around two tables, when the lady who sat us down originally came over and pointed at myself, saying “have you paid” really abrupt, even scaring on of my friends kids, who jumped, after replying “yes I have paid” and explaining to her she came across very rude and abrupt, her reply was “well a few people try getting free breakfast so just checking” without an apology. Do a ticket system if its become a problem, don’t single out a group of lads with their kids, nobody else was asked this through tour our experience, only us. A few people eating across asked if we were ok after the incident, made made me feel extremely frustrated, and left shortly after. Won’t be using them again.
The hotel was well laid out and had all your basic needs . The bedrooms , though basic, were fine and plenty of seating in the restaurant area .The evening meal was ok but I was disappointed with the cold breakfast offer. If you like a fry up and toast ., you won't be disappointed , but the fresh fruits consisted of either an orange or an apple .Yoghurt, butter and muesli ran out half way through the week . An easy fix to check on stock levels would have been a bonus .Something else to consider is . ... not having an allocated seat in the restaurant , which has to be returned to each day . Thus means if you make friends during your stay , you can not sit with them at mealtimes .
To say we were disappointed when we arrived is an under statement. The exterior was very untidy and had not been cleaned recently. It bore very little resemblance to thenpictures on the Internet.nThe interior was very tired and needs a lot of time and money spending on it. We had a double room, which although was reasonably clean, had just an open cupboard with very little hanging space, and no drawers at all. The evening meals were disgusting, of the 4 that we were there for only 2 were acceptable. Breakfast was fine although the sausage was very poor as were the mushrooms. The lift broke down on the 1st evening, when we enquired when it was likely to be repaired as I have difficulty with stairs we were told it should be the next day! When we left 4 days later it still had not been repaired. The swimming pool was awful, and the kitchen backed on to it, outside the kitchen were countless huge tins of oil that were leaking everywhere. The only saving grace for the place is the staff who were lovely. I will definitely not be returning.
