Story

The Imperial Hotel is a 4 star coastal hotel in Torquay. This Victorian clifftop hotel, found on the east coast of Devon, takes up a stunning position in the traditional seaside resort and is ideally located for exploring the English Riviera. With spectacular bay views, this Mediterranean-style hotel was built in 1866, offers large, bright rooms, indoor & outdoor swimming pools and a health club, all 10 minutes’ walk from Torquay town centre.

Fine cuisine is served in the AA Rosette-awarded Regatta Restaurant, along with fine wines and panoramic views of Torquay. Guests such as Napoleon III, King Edward VII and the Queen of Holland have all visited this four-star setting in years gone by.

Lovely old hotel. We had a deluxe double room with an amazing view of the sea and Torquay centre. Breakfast was good. We were there at the weekend and it was busy. There was some noise in the night from other guests as they do a lot of weddings there but I'm not sure if the walls were a bit thin or the guests were just very loud. Overall I would come back here as it is well situated for the centre within walking distance but near the top of a steep hill so might be an issue for some people.

We have been here many times. We love the location. It is so traditional. Staff are lovely. Would like.a quite lounge to relax in the evening though as we are mixed with lively noisey wedding guests. Not their fault of course, just should be somewhere for hotel guests who would like to relax!

From start to finish, all the staff made us feel welcome and taken care of. Reception was a breeze to check in. We immediately went to try the pool which was lovely and warm. Steam room and Jacuzzi was also tested out which I enjoyed :-) Only 2 small negatives were the slightly dated décor, and soft mattress which when sleeping towards the edges, you felt like you were sliding off. But it did not in any way spoil our stay! What I loved about the location was that it was a little off the marina but walking distance. We were able to go out for a night out and walk back in less than 10 minutes. Wonderful view across the bay (we had a garden room). Overall, a wonderful hotel I would use again should I be back in Torquay.

This hotel is amazing the staff really helpful the view from are room was out of this world over looking the harbour and you can all so see paignton and Brixham. Food was very nice . And the hotel with in walking distance of the harbour and town. Good parking for the car as well. Will definitely be back . Well done Imperial hotel Torquay

Average place, I wouldn't call it a 4start hotel even though they claim it to be, rooms are average, friendly staff. Very old school premises. Nice & grand looking lounge. Good breakfast with a good variety. We paid separate and had dinner at the restaurant despite my wife request to go out and see what else is there in the town centre for dinner. Lack of variety to order from as the menue is small. Food was average &didn't meet our expectations on a 4 start hotel restaurant level. It wasn't worth the top dollar we had to pay for. Wouldn't recommend this. Best to eat from the town centre loads of fancy restaurants and great places to Eat with a wide variety. Overall it was an OK experience staying at the hotel.
