We came to the grand hotel in Torquay with a January deal which was fantastic value for money. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the bar and restaurant staff. The room was nice, although quite dated. The first night was very cold in the room even with the radiators on full, when they eventually heated up the following night it was very warm in the room. We ate in the 1881 restaurant both nights, and had delicious 3 course dinners. Followed by a great selection in the morning for breakfast. Unfortunately we didn't manage to use the spa, even when trying to book a massage the day before they had no spaces. Worth checking when you arrive. But the pool was ok with access to hot tub and sauna. Overall very happy with our stay and would return.

Fantastic hotel made welcome as soon as we arrived told all about the facilities in which we soon decided try out. And wasn't disappointed. Breakfast in the morning was great all nicely laid out .continental down one side .with the great British breakfast at the other. Again all the staff very helpful if you did not like any of the food in which you could see you could order from the menu. Will I come again you bet

As all the trains to London were cancelled today we unexpectedly stopped off for lunch in the Grand Hotel brasserie. Lovely tasty food and good value for money and very friendly service. I would recommend my mushroom tagliatelle with blue cheese and walnuts. Excellent!

Good location right next to the station and great views from bar/restaurant areas. Buffet breakfast is very similar to that in other hotels and indeed to that in the Premier Inn. They were redecorating the public areas when we stayed and the corridors upstairs also look like they are due for redecoration. Budget room comfortable with good bathroom but slightly noisy due to (?)kitchen extractor fans . We didn't ask to be moved as we had packed day time schedule.

Stayed over for new year. Hotel is fairly nice. Rooms in need of modernization and a good scrub. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Giving us their local knowledge to make the most of our stay. Pool and sauna was an added bonus aswell could also do with some modernization too. All in all its a good place to stay that's right next to the train station so easy to get too. And the staff were fantastic!
