Alexander Palace is a gem of historical elegance and serene beauty. The atmosphere is absolutely charming, with its well-preserved architecture and lush gardens offering a glimpse into the past. The palace exudes a tranquil ambiance that makes it a perfect retreat from the bustle of modern life. However, visitors should note that the palace can be a bit chilly, even in the summer months. Despite this, the overall experience is delightful and thoroughly enjoyable. Whether you're a history buff or simply looking for a picturesque escape, Alexander Palace is well worth the visit.
Beautiful venue for the outdoor gig I attended last week - Suede and Manic Street Preachers. Easy access although a little uphill from the train station, very well organised and wonderful views of London.
## Alexandra Park and Palace: A London Oasis with History and Activities Alexandra Park and Palace, often referred to as Ally Pally, offer a delightful escape from the bustling city center. Nestled in north London, it combines beautiful green spaces with a historic landmark, making it a great destination for a variety of interests. **The Park:** * **Green Flag Award Winner:** This sprawling 200-acre park boasts a variety of landscapes, including meadows, woodlands, and a boating lake. It's a perfect spot for a picnic, a leisurely stroll, or engaging in outdoor activities like frisbee or running. * **Family-Friendly:** Playgrounds, a paddling pool open seasonally, and a cafe with outdoor seating make it a great place to bring the kids. * **Panoramic Views:** Ally Pally sits on a hill, offering breathtaking panoramic views of London's skyline on a clear day. **The Palace:** * **A Historic Landmark:** The Grade II listed Alexandra Palace, nicknamed "The People's Palace," is a stunning Victorian building with a rich history. * **Things to Do:** The Palace houses exhibitions, events, a theatre, and a restaurant. You can also enjoy the impressive architecture and explore the surrounding gardens. * **Mixed Reviews:** While some find the Palace beautiful and interesting, others might find the interior a bit dated [Tripadvisor reviews]. **Other Activities:** * **Alexandra Park also offers:** * A pitch and putt course * Go Ape treetop adventure course * An all-year ice rink * Farmers markets seasonal **Things to Keep in Mind:** * **Getting There:** The park is easily accessible by public transport, but the Palace itself is a bit of a walk uphill from the nearest station. * **Limited Palace Opening Hours:** Double-check the opening hours of the Palace before your visit, as they can vary depending on the day and any events happening. * **Playground Reviews:** While the park offers green space for kids to run around, some reviews mention the playground equipment itself could be improved [LondonDucklings review]. **Overall:** Alexandra Park and Palace offer a lovely green escape with something for everyone. Whether you're seeking a historical adventure, a family outing, or simply a relaxing day in nature, Ally Pally has something to offer. Just be prepared for the walk uphill to the Palace and potentially limited opening hours.
A great escape from the city with natural beauty and incredible views over London. There are various activities and play areas in the park and the palace boasts some impressive architecture and is a great venue.
I visited here two times to go ice skating and yesterday for Latino American festival. 1. THE ICE RINK It’s a nice big place which gives opportunity to practice your skills on ice skating The only minus I have noticed so far u have to book your visit a day earlier cause there’s lots people visiting if u came without a reservation u can’t go in 2. AREA The area inside and outside is big and enjoyable to look at. One of the things that they do sometimes is festivals like the one I went to it has lots food and dancing The hall inside changes quite a lot and last time I saw it yesterday had the most amazing thing a giant picture of Alexandra palace but instead of putting just a picture they found an artist that made it out of small little pics of people in the palace idk how to really explain it so look yourself 3. FESTIVAL Latino American festival was really interesting lots dancing, food and fun. Food was a bit expensive but it was worth it the Latin food that we had was delicious like really good So this place is amazing And if u hear about a festival happening. Don’t waste time thinking, just go. Trust me u won’t regret it. Picnic area: Tables outside the building and a park with big field
Perfect for London views. If you are in the mood for a picnic then I definitely recommend. You see the whole of London skyline. Also, indulged in watching planes make a turn to Heathrow lol Picnic area: Lovely views.
Beautiful park and fields. Friendly environment overall with a nice view. Most people were kind and dogs all friendly. Unfortunately, I have taken off a star as school kids are anti social and run here screaming obnoxious things. Not parks fault at all but no measures seem to be taken to prevent this. Beautiful little place for a picnic, my wife and I saw many other couples having picnics as-well as us. Be mindful of the bugs, do remember this isn’t unique to the park though as in summer they are everywhere.
Went for firework night on friday 1st, very big large fire. This park is huge! Had a great time with a great firework show. Food was very expensive however.
Amazing venue and facilities completely let down by organisation and parking. Arrived 20 mins early for ice skating only to be told there was no onsite parking because of an event. I had to drop off the partner and children and park 30 mins away. It should be clearly warned in advance that there is no parking. Great venue, great facilities, awful organisation.
I love this park and all the surroundings. It's a really big park and it's a nice long walk to the top. There is Alexandra Palace with it's beautiful architecture, big events inside like live music, bands, ice skating, sport games. There is a lake, playgrounds, toilets, a cafe and close there are 2 big garden centre. I love this park in every season. Always people walking around with dogs, family, friends and in summer is full of life near the pub at the top.
