I visited the Yardley Wood library on a number of occasions. The staff are friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable about what's going on in the community. The local PCSOs often visit to meet with the locals and be there for those in need. The library does events and activities for people of all ages and holds a weekly coffee morning for the elderly. The library has a great range of books for people of all ages and is a wonderful asset to the community of Yardley Wood.
Passed by this library and its architecture is cool kind of looks like a open book. It offers adult courses as well as has activities for the community to do, there is alot going on in the summer.
I used this library as a child and I've now rejoined as an adult. Primary reason is I no longer want to buy new books. The app allows me to peruse books online and order them for collection. Also you can extend a loan via the app. Joining the library also gives access to audiobooks and magazines which is useful to me. The library is a shortish walk from my home so it makes for a nice walk there and back. The staff are friendly and welcoming without being overbearing so all in all, I'd recommend it.
Best library ever. Amazing staff and choice of books! Amazing kids corner too. Love it!
Brilliant local library. Any books they don't have can be ordered and are usually there within a week. It has a public loo. Plenty of computers to use. Staff are very friendly and are great with kids. Library holds various workshops and play days for children during school holidays. My kids love to go and have a mooch.
I really like going there since it has a friendly environment and staff on hand to help with any issues that you may have. Having a range of books for children and adults and labelled sections to find your way around. Anyways, I been visiting this place since my childhood and I still attend and like to help out when I can. There is always information at the front desk about what events are going on and the latest news, with police dropping by and often hosting community events to discuss any uprising or ongoing issues in which you can talk to them if there any problems. Also the local councillors also hold meetings there for you to talk to them. So you won't know the local gossip unless you go there or hear it from your next door neighbour as much information is found at the library. It's also a great place to wait out until your doctor appointment comes around.
I have been coming to the library for over 10 years the staff are very friendly what they don`t know about authors and your reading habits is not worth knowing. The library is not just about books, there is an art group who meet on a Tuesday don`t worry about you can`t draw or paint this group was in this situation when they started. On Friday is a coffee morning they are a friendly lot where can you go and get a drink and biscuits for 25p there is Tai Chi and Story time for the little ones, you don`t have to worry about the noise the children wont mind. there is also Friends of Yardley Wood library, we are there to support the staff We meet the second Tuesday of the month 12noon to 1pm.
Incorrect data this is no longer a neighbourhood office, the building was sold recently. Currently undergoing construction work to its rear car park. Initially the new owners used the rear for used car sales and a hand car wash both of which have ceased trading during the construction work. Edit: I have enquired as to what is being constructed , it is 6 residential homes and a school. I would rate the library as a 4 stars. Yardley Wood library is still open and popular, it was recently upgraded with good accessibility for disabled users having newly installed ramps and automated doors. The library staff were very friendly and helpful. Several groups hold meetings there including a craft group.
Just for a change, I decided to go do some university work at Yardley Wood Library. I have to say that my time there was bittersweet. The positive aspect about this library is that it's spacious- so if you want to take your own laptop and materials to do some work, you have the comfort to do that more so than say..Hall Green Library. Although, this is dependent on the availability of the room. However, I felt really let down by two major issues. Issue 1: You are not allowed to plug your laptop into the sockets due to budget issues. I was fortunate to have charged my laptop beforehand, though I couldn't help but think it would have been a wasted journey had my laptop needed charging. Issue 2. There was no WiFi available. As a university student, this is a major issue, as you're restricted from how much work if at all you can do. This was exacerbated when I asked a lady at the front desk whether they would be getting WiFi for the library and the response essentially was "Yes but I don't know when". Not very useful. I suppose, in a way the issues negate the benefit that this library has. It's a shame because it presents a good working space, but you're limited from the offset.
staff was very friendly offering computer advice but due to covid they was unable to personally do it for you. great covid messures in place hand sanitizer at the entrance and track and trace forms. over all great visit and well w9rth 20p a print
