Nice place to visit and have great range of books to read.
Helpful, pleasant and patient Staff. Excellent service and facilities.
Visited this week for the 1st time in years , I received exemplary service from the staff . Lovely atmosphere and very helpful staff . The government needs to update the computer system.
For me 3/5 exemplifies my emotions towards the library as moderate. I have not been in many years and this fact is linked to my point it is:run down, old, neglected architecturally and is over run by certain communities causing uncomfortableness for certain people excluding my self. It has potential to be said my renovations however I fell as if they council do not care enough. This is my opinion
Brilliant, great to be back! I got a book to read, but unfortunately I can barely remember how to use the computer, after 17 months! 2022 after COVID.
Greatest selection of books, loveliest staff, a wonderful warm space.
met my friendly from barclays in this library. Seems very well organised with the layout and the atmosphere is nice and peaceful. The building is very clean and well maintained
This library has really hit rock bottom now. The building is old - a stone in the brickwork above the main entrance, reads 1905 AD - but old buildings can be maintained, and looked after. The problem is, this one isn't. There has been a leak in the roof for some time now. It happens to be right above the table in the study area. When it rains, a bucket is placed on the table to catch the water. You can be sitting there and hear the constant splish, splash, splosh, as the drips of rainwater land into the bucket. To some, it may have perhaps a soothing meditative quality to it, but to others, this can no doubt be an irritant. Also, I would say the selection of books is very limited, and it appears they rarely take delivery of new books, if they ever do at all. It beggars belief, that Birmingham City Council spent £188.9 million on the Birmingham Central Library, when that opened in September 2013. Yet, when it comes to maintaining the smaller libraries located in other areas of the city, there seems to be little or no cash available. Most of the staff at Kings Heath though, are decent, polite people, who have good customer service skills. However, there used to be an elderly woman who worked at this library - I don't know her name - who nearly always gave me a dirty look, whenever she saw me. Sometimes she would just stare at me in an hostile manner. But, knowing what I do about human behaviour, I would say this woman has psychological problems. Perhaps some kind of psychological profiling should be done, when people apply for these roles, so that candidates of the right calibre, are then selected.
I used to like this place but, over the last year or so I have found inappropriate remarks made by the Asian members of staff who have also been harsh and nasty when dealing with my enquire. No Muslim community, organisation, University of Birmingham, Conservative government and the Media has the right to harass a person or their family, especially for years!
I have used this library for over twenty years. I think the staff are fantastic . They are helpful , knowledgeable and caring . The building is old and with age comes certain problems but the staff cope well on a daily basis and with the threat of cutbacks over their heads . Keep up the good work it is always a pleasure to walk through your doors .
