The library is beautiful! As a tourist, it is a wonderful place for anyone coming to Birmingham. On the top 2 floors, there is a beautiful terrace with lots of flowers and benches to sit on. There is an exhibition that explains the history of the library. I recommend taking the elevator up and turn down by the escalators. As a student, it is a great place to study, do your homework, it has internet, very private spaces, you can get your membership card to request books. It is a great place for group study or even to read a book.
Very nice and peaceful place

The Library of Birmingham is a true gem in the city's cultural landscape. From its striking modern architecture to its vast array of resources, it's a haven for book lovers and knowledge seekers alike. The building itself is an architectural marvel, with its sleek lines and glass facade inviting visitors to explore within. Inside, you'll find an extensive collection of books, periodicals, and multimedia resources catering to a wide range of interests and disciplines. Whether you're delving into history, exploring the arts, or studying the sciences, the library has something for everyone. The layout is spacious and well-organized, making it easy to navigate and discover new treasures. However, it's worth noting that the library can get quite crowded, especially during peak hours and on weekends. This can sometimes make it challenging to find a quiet corner to read or study, particularly if you prefer a more peaceful environment. Nevertheless, the staff are always friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere remains welcoming despite the hustle and bustle. Tip: There is a secret garden on top of the library where you can go for free. You can see the landscape of Birmingham from there and it’s quite photogenic. Escalator to the garden was faulty when we went there so we asked the lady and she said we could use the lift. It was lovely.
What a beautiful place to visit and all free! The 9 storey building with immaculate interior was stunning. The security at the entrance mentioned floor 3., 7 and 9 of interest and he was on point. 9 has the Shakespeare room and the skyline view Point, 7 has the secret garden and 3 all reading material. Great area for kids too my toddler loved the space.
Beautiful Birmingham This photo perfectly captures the vibrant atmosphere of Birmingham's city center. The iconic Library of Birmingham, with its stunning golden facade, stands out against the backdrop of the city's skyline. The bustling street scene, with people walking and trams running, adds to the lively energy. It's a great place to visit for a mix of culture, shopping, and dining. Highly recommended!
I love this place so much,my son every day asks me to go there, There is a special reading floor for children with many activities held during occasions. My child also enjoys the reading, the piano rooms and the classes held every Saturday for children from birth. The place in general is useful for children and the team is very understanding, patient, kind and cooperative.
I'm writing this as a visitor to the library, not as a regular user, but what an astonishing place this is. From the outside it's an extraordinary building, but inside is a vast collection of books and publication, study areas and inspiring design. Well worth taking the escalator or lift up to the high floors to visit The Secret Garden, which isn't quite so secret anymore obviously. The landscaping and foliage is beautiful, with a view across the city, benches to sit on and a chance to breath again.
really clean and spacious!!! perfect landscaping as you go up outside level 9 has a small shakespeare center, great spot to relax and take pictures.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Definitely one of the most impressive libraries, brimming with fascinating local history while offering top-notch service. The Birmingham Library is a monumental literature home with four floors. If you're not cautious you can get actually get lost but you can always take a break in the many cafes littered around. Pros - A very remarkable collection of books in every section. - Thye length of the building is surreal, with three to four floors to explore: it truly feels like you spend an entire afternoon exploring and still have something new to see. - The walls are littered with impressive works of art while citing the local history. - It has a considerable amount of studying booths, din cafes c, cafes, and seats to rest. - The kid's zone is simply adorable. - The manga collection although small contains both Berserk, Monster and other comics. Cons Some of the elevators were out of order...
