Wright Brothers Borough Market

About

Seafood Merchants - Wright Bros Ltd of Borough Market - Original Restaurant.

Story

Perfectly located for a pit-stop from the bustling Market, Borough is the original Wright Brothers restaurant and where their growing wholesale business began.

The restaurant is intimate and informal with seating mostly arranged around a long oyster bar and two shared high-tables which offer views across the open kitchen. In Summer guests can sit outside around tall wooden barrels and soak up the vibrant atmosphere.

Head chef Rob Malyon's speciality is great ingredients cooked simply. The menu includes classics such as oysters, fruits de mer, moules marinières, as well as traditional dishes like their beef, Guinness and oyster pie. There is a daily-changing specials board ensuring the freshest seafood and seasonal produce.

The wine list pairs perfectly with the food on offer and there is a wide selection of cocktails, as well as an excellent range of bottled London craft beers.

Fabulous evening at Wright Brothers Borough Market on Tuesday. My husband and I popped in earlier in the day with little hope that we might secure a table for later at such short notice. Veronica the General Manager was excellent as always. Welcoming us warmly, she arranged the reservation even putting us at our favourite table without us having to ask. We returned later and were looked after royally by Joanna and Jake. Our oysters and fish pies were perfection. Even the green salad is scrumptious. Wonderful evening.
Really highly recommend, the seafood was amazing quality and was great to sit at the bar and watch it be prepared. Oysters in particular were great. Good choice of drinks and the staff were super attentive and helpful. Definitely recommend booking though as we booked over a week in advance and had to sit at the counter, we didn’t mind but something to bear in mind as it does get busy.
We had a gorgeous crisp French wine. The Japanese dressed oysters were incredible with a fiery wasabi kick. Skate wings were cooked to perfection, so fresh. Our waitress was so attentive and smiled all through the serviceFood: 5/5
Excellent service and a lively atmosphere even though we were there on a Tuesday Night ! We got a pint of prawns that were very fresh and delicious! We also got the scallops which were very big and cooked very well. For main, we got the grilled prawns which were sadly overcooked. The chips and hispi cabbage were yum.Food: 3/5
Fantastic seafood and fresh oyster!!! Friendly staff and good service also. I really appreciate Alex’s recommendation it was really suit for us.Food: 5/5
Jake was tops! Offered excellent suggestions for oysters, wine, and food while we sat at the bar. Didn’t love the fish pie, seemed too much sauce, not enough seafood, but raw oysters and the mussels were fab. Hope to be back again in future.Food: 5/5
Had a great time at Wright Brothers with their £1 oyster happy hour. Tried the whitebait special, loved it! Their white wine was great too.Food: 5/5
Had an amazing Sunday afternoon experience, everything was incredibly vibrant and tasty. Great wine and our waitress Joanna helped guide us through the menu!Food: 5/5
Love this place so much, fantastic seafood and great wine. We loved all the dishes we had, especially enjoyed the Cod's Roe and soda bread. We visited during happy hour so Oysters were only £1 each.Food: 5/5
The restaurant is empty below pictures but we aren’t allowed to sit inside. We can not take second order only because the waiter think she can’t be bothered. Every single of the waiter were either racist or simply aggressive. Does the waiter use this attitude to all their customers or it’s just because of we are Asians? My friend has bipolar and she has been suffered for over a months, and the only wish she had recently is to visit a nice oyster shop. I can’t imagine how harm this is to my friend. Strongly advise to change all of the restaurant’s staff.
