Frequent enough services to Walsall, Birmingham & Wolverhampton but generally it's rly depressing & run-down. Surrounding area is proper dodgy. Dodgy people and so messy like nobody can be asked to clean up the streets- proper lazy. People who live there should be ashamed of themselves for sitting back and doing nothing about it!
Very busy on Matchday. Will often need to queue and wait for multiple trains. Best station for away fans to get back to New Street
Not the most up to date station in the country but still a relevant train station. This is an unmanned station with links to Birmingham New Street or Broomsgrove in the opposite direction. The is no in-house Wi-Fi connectivity, but there are installed cctv cameras at this station on both platforms. There is a newly installed ticket machine by the stairs under platform 2. I did not observe any other ticket machine on platform one, but I could be wrong. The waiting area on platform one has a strong smell of urine and also the toilets are locked and open on match days. For all its faults, this station's entrance or exits are in line with regulations for persons with disabled or wheel chair users for access. I found no lift at this station. For any wheelchair user, I would recommend using a power wheelchair to reach either platforms or if you are by yourself with no nobody at the station to help you in a non-powered wheelchair, you will find going up to the platforms tough going. There are also installed two, red primative Permit To Travel machines - one on each platform, where the idea is that if you put in a pound coin for instance, the ticket you get, on reaching your destination and going to the ticket office, will be discounted from the cost of your travel. There are also installed help/emergency speakerphone system which is answered quickly when you have a query.
This station is modern and it's way better than Duddeston or Aston. Sure it's in the same area and there is still some crime now and then... but most robberies take place at Duddeston or Aston stations because they are more busy and popular amongst people, and both stations are quite residential and industrial which is why the high crime factor there... to cross platforms go back down to street level via the step free ramp and go under the tracks then go back up the ramp and you are there. Frequent trains to Wolverhampton and Walsall come here and it normally takes up to every 20 or 30 minutes for the next train to arrive if you have missed one, you might think that's long but it's nothing compared to a bus or normal national rail. So yea, use Witton instead of Aston. There are also some buses to Perry Common and Handsworth.
Nice station yet simple. 5 minute walk away from Villa Park. And is situated in the heart of Witton Square surrounded by a good range of shops. Trains come every 30 - 35 minutes to B'ham New Street and Walsall. However there is a special express service from B'ham New Street every Aston Villa home game.
Be careful of disgraceful chavs who ask people on an Internet forum to fight them 1v1 at this station because they disagreed with your opinion. This is a typical Jeremy Kyle Show train station, full of chavs and benefits scroungers.
should have branches for sitting. Inside of sitting place are so much stinky and dirty
Outstanding Train Service
The benches smell awful
