This was a superb station for both arrival and departure, with a great bridge connecting both platforms! They are well-sized for the trains, departure boards are kept up to date and the design is modern for West Midlands Trains.
I know the shops were closed but nothing open by the old cross keys. Had little wanna be gangsters outside a shop by train station. Good old spoons saved my experience. Has gone downhill over the years and others would agree
Hated everything about my visit streets full of rubbish and people walking round dazed and why do you need 24 fruit and veg shops and 20 +selling wines and spirits WELL DO BIRMINGHAM CITY COUNCIL STAY AWAY FROM THIS AREA
Nice little station. I was more interested in the story of phone box that used be outside the station. It was reported to have been haunted, strange voices could heard in the phone box, so it gave some scary moments. Since then it's been got rid of replaced by huge garden rock. Good place if you're a ghost hunter or into paranormal stuff.
This striking sculpture was purchased for £23,000 by Centro now Transport for West Midlands in 1995 as part of a programme aimed at enhancing Midlands railway stations with public art. Installed in October 1998, it sits at the foot of the ramp that leads to the southbound platform of Erdington Railway Station. The silver-grey granite from which it is carved was sourced from the Creetown and Dalbeattie quarries on the Solway Firth. On one side of the stone is a cross which relates to Rae’s Celtic roots and on the other side, one of the smallest forms of life, an ant. The insect is depicted as equal in size to the cross to symbolise respect for all life, no matter how small or insignificant.
The ramps are a bit of a climb and the platform 1 ticket machine is a bit of an afterthought. Other than that it's a railway station you get what you're given.
Station is located in a good spot, not too far away from the town centre and has ramps up to the platforms giving full step free access in both directions. A ticket office and ticket machine, which accepts cash or card payments is located on the Birmingham platform. The station was in the middle of repainting when I was there.
I mean it's nothing to complain , it's to be fair a nice place , good seating , well cleaned , nice and safe , and sometimes it's fun just sitting there to watch the trains when u bored love trains
Not a bad place went down to see family and friends, had a lovely day shame the weather was not nice but it's okay
It's a nice train station not far from the main shipping centre.
