I recently visited Where the Pancakes Are and ordered the full English breakfast, substituting the roasted tomatoes with an extra sausage. Here’s my detailed review: Booking and Seating: If you don't reserve in advance, you'll have to sit outside. This isn't bad if the weather is good, as the outdoor seating area has a roof and blankets, which is quite resourceful. The Meal: My English breakfast included 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, bacon, baked beans, 1 fried egg, and syrup. Although I appreciate that everything was handmade, including the baked beans and pancakes, I found the dish underwhelming. The bacon was overly crispy, shriveled, and looked tiny. A different type of bacon that doesn’t burn easily and looks more appealing might be better. The pancakes were unremarkable and didn't stand out. On the positive side, the sausages were crisp and the beans were fresh, which were the highlights of the meal. Service and Value: The service was fast despite the restaurant being busy, which is good for business. However, I felt that the value was not worth the price. It seems that part of the cost is for the location and surroundings, which were one of the best aspects of the place. Overall Impression: The location is a hidden gem, but overall, I was quite underwhelmed with the meal. In summary, while Where the Pancakes Are has a charming location and efficient service, the food did not live up to my expectations in terms of value and quality.
It’s not a bad place, but there are loads of better places in the area. I had the dutch baby with cheese, and it barely had any taste. Other members of the family had sweet pancakes, but they weren’t blown away either.Food: 2/5
Have always enjoyed coming here, and is my go to place when friends are visiting or I want a cheeky weekend pancake treat. Need to reserve good few days in advance, unless you don’t mind waiting in a queue for 15-20 mins or so. Pancakes are always amazing, with a really wide range on offer from sweet to savoury to Dutch style. 3-in-1 batter allows for dairy, gluten and vegan pancakes with a good range of vegan sauces and alternatives. Coffee is lovely. Love it, every time. Dietary restrictions: 3 in 1 batter allows for dairy free, gluten free and vegan pancakes all in one. And the pancakes are great!
As we were meeting friends the day before Pancake Day, we thought it'd be fitting to see if we could find a Pancake House for lunch. And what a find! This was an absolute delight! The place is very popular so definitely recommend booking but the Pancakes were well worth the wait. They were so fluffy and tasty that we were only sorry we didn't have enough time before our exhibition slot to try the dessert ones as well but we have every intention of going back to do so! There is indoor and outdoor seating and they even provide blankets! The staff are hard working whilst managing to be attentive and friendly when very busy. Vegetarian options: They have 2 types of batter; the buttermilk and also the 3-in-1 dairy-free, vegan & wheat-free batter made with flour made from organic rice and buckwheat flour plus soy milk & chickpea water.
I was there last summer during a perfect, clear, warm day, and it couldn't have been better. Starting with the menu, there are so many cool options that it's difficult to choose just one thing. The service is also very good, the guy who served me was very polite and kind, he found a table for me to sit outside, even though I didn't have a reservation, which was great because I was able to enjoy the weather with a beautiful view. I will definitely be back again on my next visit to London.
Came here as saw a good rating and decided to try. Waited 25 mins for my order Royal to arrive. Given that it was crowded, I do understand for the delay and thought that the quality of the food will redeem itself. However, smoked salmon was thinly sliced, poached eggs were cooked and pancake was not fluffy as expected at all. Service is normal but kudos to 1 of the staff who kept checking on my order without me being asked. Overall, as a tourist, I will give it a miss and do my own pancake mix instead.
It was one of the best breakfasts we've ever had, and by far, the best pancakes we've tried! Everything else...the bacon, sausage, beans, tomatoes, and eggs were all cooked to perfection as well! The pancake toppings on the "recovery" were perfection! I was impressed with the amount of toppings; there was a generous layer of bananas on top of my pancakes as well as on the second pancake underneath, which I was not expecting! But really, these pancakes are so good you don't even need the toppings! Oh, and the fresh squeezed orange juice was a delicious and refreshing touch to our mimosas. We hope to go back before we leave London!
The pancakes here are amazing! I tried the Pulled Beef Pastrami and I really liked this one over the sweet pancake. I think it comes down to preference but the Hummingbird was also good. I liked how it wasn’t overly sweet. The drinks here are also a must try. I would recommend this spot for brunch.
Pleasant brunch place with tasty pancakes including gluten-free options with a focus on local produce. While there's bench seating outside, the interior is a bit cramped, but still pretty cozy. It gets busy on weekends - make sure to arrive early if you want to snag a table without having to queue.Food: 4/5
These pancakes satisfied our sweet and savory cravings perfectly! We ordered the Pulled beef pastrami and the Hummingbird pancakes, which were both delicious! There’s outdoor seating which is perfect when it’s warm outside. I also ordered the Coffee Brew drink, which was really good as well!Food: 5/5
