I recently visited Tonkotsu Bankside and I must say it was a delightful dining experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we stepped in. The service was prompt and efficient, with our drinks and food being served up swiftly. Not only were the dishes delicious, but they were also presented beautifully. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was inviting and cosy. Moreover, the pricing was reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service provided. I would wholeheartedly recommend Tonkotsu Bankside to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in the area. You won't be disappointed!
I didn’t expect much when visiting this place. Nevertheless, I was so surprised and impressed with the level of service and quality of food. We ordered ramen and chicken katsu. Everything was delicious. Even though portion are XL size, I just couldn’t leave any piece of food on a plate… Thank you for the great experience!Food: 5/5
Generous bowl fulls of ramen and tasty sides! All tasted fresh, both prawn and meat options were equally good with some amazing looking vegan choices which I would definitely return for. The option of kids chopsticks were helpful and the kids bento boxes were a hit with ours. Kid-friendliness: Kids options were fairly priced, included a drink and were of good quality and decent portions!
Good experience at Tonkotsu. The Chilli Chicken ramen was very yummy, with a good variety of dishes, but the side dishes were a bit lacklustre. Staff were all lovely, and the restaurant was quiet. The food did take a little while to arrive, but it was lovely upon arrival. Some of the decor and cutlery could do with updating to give the restaurant a more mature feel, but that's just my preference! We did book using FirstTable therefore our bill was discounted; had we not had that discount, I would have felt the food was a bit overpriced for what it is. Vegetarian options: Good selection of clearly labelled veggie ramen and katsu curry.
- edamame £4.25 - eastside vegan dessert sando £6.50 - chicken teriyaki hiyashi £12.50 - kricket x tonkotsu pandhi pork ramen £15.95 we started with some boiled edamame, which was nothing special but always a good starter. for mains, we got their special pandhi curry ramen no longer available and it was incredibly hearty and flavourful - the pork itself was definitely a highlight bc it was sooo tender. we also got the hiyashi ramen, which is more of a noodle salad bc there isn’t broth, and it was very light and refreshing - would be perfect for summer! their noodles are all handmade and you can definitely tell bc they retain the perfect chew. to end, we shared the ‘east side vegan’ ice cream sando. it was the perfect end to a meal and i’d highly recommend getting one of these bc the flavours are all so unique!
We went here for a quick bite before going to Tate Modern. Ordered 3x ramen and a kids menu. For 3 adults and a 2YO. It’s plenty of food to eat. I wouldn’t recommend adding extras if you don’t have a big appetite. I find the restaurant is a bit small in a sense that staff do have to move around furniture to store the prams from people. But they are very friendly! There are hooks on the wall for coats which are handy
I personally really enjoyed my tonkotsu ramen, perfect for what I needed that day. So delicious and creamy it was super yummy! I like the fact the have different portion sizes which is perfect for how hungry you are. There was a filipina waitress who helped us and she was a dream after I was spoken to rudely by another employee.Food: 5/5
overall: unsatisfying ramen. don’t recommend at all. only redeeming factor is the cocktails tonkotsu : fooled by the presentation of the ramen. the soup is so oily that a layer of grease film forms as the soup cools down. the soup has no bone nor meat flavour, just saltiness. the noodles were slightly on the softer side when served, & got rather soggy by the end as it soaks up all the soup. chicken karaage : too dry, definitely needs a sauce. umeshu spritz : drinks are probably the only reason why i’ll go back as it’s affordable for london prices & has a japanese twist to it.
My sister and I came to Tonkotsu today and the ramen was outstanding! Absolutely delicious. We also shared the cauliflower wings which tasted fantastic. Claudia provided such a great service, always smiling and being super welcoming from the second we walked in! Thank you so much, we will come back for sure Food: 5/5
