Visited today with my wife for a business lunch, what a wonderful restaurant only a short walk from Southwalk and London Bridge. Our waiter Mariusz was superb, nothing was too little. He ensured our visit to Hix was memorable. I also loved the piano which started just after we served our mains. The prawns were superb with a lovely dressing, giving a wonderful flavour profile. The Chicken was so unexpected, it arrived on a stunning wooden block, the picture looks as tasty as the food, super crispy skin, tender and moist. One of the best roast chickens I have ever had! We will be returning soon, the private room downstairs also looks very cosy and perfect for a private event or birthday.
While I had a pretty bad Experiance here, my friends had a nice time. First, the atmosphere is great. Trendy and modern and the front of house staff was very hospitable. I made the mistake of ordering the steak. Although everything about this dish, the restaurant and the chef's reputation told me it should be alright. I ordered it medium but got rare as a fluke on land! On top of that the steak was plopped on a plate with no thought as to presentation...This being said, my friends dishes were beautiful and delicious. The calamari may have been the best I've ever had with complex and strong seasoning. Unfortunately at the end, the waiter made a pretty off-color joke after I gave my card by telling me and my friends that my card was declined. Did not appreciate that. My friends experiences saved it from being a 1 star.
Best of burgers....just had a great burger and chips here. Expected the usual gastro pub experience, but got a classy space, great food and first class service. This is a lovely area of the world, old and wharfy. This is a gem. Real mayonnaise with a hint of garlic given at request. Smashing.
We just went in for a snack and a drink. It was a small feast though, the wine list is good and there is a variety of wines available by the glass and as a pot which is great. The menu has a range of Food and there was a good brunch menu available as well. Nice atmosphere and busy restaurant, a fun buzzing place for lunch. We ordered the chicken which was particularly large but absolutely delicious. Well cooked and perfectly seasoned accompanied with some chips and carrots made it a great lunch time meal. The service was good, staff friendly and efficient. I would definitely recommend this place and would visit again.
This place worth visiting. Food was absolutely amazing and the service was great. Me and my colleagues all had a great time. Keep it up guys. Great job !
Great place for business lunches, specially if you get to book some of their private rooms. Great service, incredible wine and excellent steak. Try the “picanha” which is a Brazilian cut for beef, it is delicious! Ah! For starters, try the chicken liver pate with their Yorkshire pudding: it is heaven !
This place is great - good food, good wine, good service. And it really helps that the steak is done phenomenally well. We came as a group and took advantage of a private room tucked right at the back of the place, which added to the atmosphere and made the food sharing more enjoyable. Retro prawn cocktail to start, and a medium chateaux steak as a main, both were delicious. Absolute highlight was the yorkshire pudding and whipped chicken liver which was amazing - definitely worth a go!
Lovely birthday meal with my family. Highly recommended. Great food and excellent service in a lovely setting.
enjoyed this meal, the buttermilk chicken was very tasty and we'll seasoned4/5, the beef croquettes crunchy outside and moist inside3,75/5, all sided by tasty skin-on fries an average salad ; the only sour note pun intended were the onion rings : batter too thin and greasytoo much liquid in it or oil temp too low and the onions were mildly sourdon't know if it was intended but that should never be a question a costumer asks himself. service was pretty quick and efficient, really nice decor, will probably come back to try something else
My grandfather and I came across Hixter when he literally decided that he didn't want to walk any further because he was 86 years old and when he is done, he is done. Well, we couldn't have been happier with everything about this restaurant. The decor is modern and gorgeous, and the attention to detail is clearly observed. The food is excellent, traditional dishes are surprisingly new and light with incredible flavoring. Even the wine list is thorough and the cocktails are fantastic. To top it all off, we were greeted by impressively kind and hospitable staff who seemed happy to have our patronidge. This has been only my first time in London, but I know when I am able to one day return Hixter will be on my "must-do" list.
