We were just driving through the area and I remembered this pub from many years ago. Decided to stop in for a meal. Arrived and the place was a little busy, but we were able to park. Small wait to be seated. We sat outside, given the menus and told to order at the bar. I must say with the glorious sunshine outdoor seating was a must. Very impressive array of seating options and table sizes. Seats available in gazebos, partial shade or full sunshine. A few picnic benches available. All surrounded by a well kept garden and a play area for children. Good array of options on the menu. No queues for ordering at the bar. Drinks given straight away and food delivered to our table relatively quickly. Staff polite and professional. This is all whilst the place was filling up. Really lovely experience.
Dined here twice during my stay in Baslow. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and cocktails. I was served by Laura on Day 1 who made great recommendations for my cocktail and meal. The next day I was served by the head chef's son who was equally enthusiastic about the menu. It's a cosy pub with outdoor space. Highly recommend.
The pub and its grounds are lovely, very green and well maintained. The food was but the cocktail was awful and not worth £8. The staff member I spoke with was sarcastic and unpleasant so we won't return.
i have been passing this pub many times, it was my first visit with friends. we arrived 12:20pm on saturday after walked from chatsworth house. we were very lucky that arrived 1 minute early after that the pub was full. the meals we ordered were good and servied very quickly. the staff were friendly and service was good.
Made to feel welcome when asked if wecould stay with motorhome. When booking table I was told it would rain about 6 so would be better inside and yes it started to rain at 6. Dog friendly . Friendly service lovely food lovely outside area.peacefull nights sleep.
Exellent well mannered staff lovely venue good choice of food and drink, our room was lovely large well appointed with its own bathroom and separate toilet both huge rooms lovely view outside and clean spotlessly clean bar is cosy and beer garden patio beautifully laid out I've loved this place in summer and it's lovely at this time of year we both love it. Thankyou so much.
We visited last Sat afternoon. Waited quite a while to be seated.Ordered' trio of roasts'. £17,50.Was told turkey is not available,so will get more pork instead.unfortunately the amount of gravy was very limited and pork and Beef was very chewy. But the worst part was paying the bill of £ 19,50 because we agreed to have extra pork!tried to explain, but waiter clearly repeated the amonut to be paid. Also we believe we should be informed about any unavailable ingredients before we sat and started our drinks.Dissapointing.
The pub is immaculately clean. Smells nice when walking in. The toilets are cleaned well and smell nice. Bar staff very polite and pleasant. Breakfast was delicious. Will definitely return. Only upgrade needed is the lighting. It's very dark inside. Could do with brightening up a little.
Made a booking arrived earlier than expected no problem. Given a nice table. Very young staff and they were bright and attentive and we had good banter. Wainwright beer ran out but the guys brought tasters so we chose an alternative Sunday lunch was great, the dog enjoyed the biscuits and we had a lovely afternoon. Many thanks to the staff they were fab.
We turned up 45 mins early for our booking, but that was no problem. We were seated straight away and our drinks order taken. Our lovely waitress didn't bat an eyelid about my onion allergy and consulted her food guide before confirming my choice was safe for me to eat. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot and delicious. Despite the large portions we decided we couldn't leave without sampling the puddings and they did not disappoint. The service was attentive without being intrusive. A really enjoyable experience.
