The bed was very comfortable and I had a good night's sleep every night despite overlooking a busy road. The amenities were good, although the bathroom tap was loose and some of the fitments were rough around the edges; ideally, it could do with an update. Breakfast was disappointing, with little cooked choice, and the bacon was tough - it definitely isn't worth £12. But, overall, good value for money.
Got a twin room with breakfast for £60. Amazing value! Check in was easy, staff were polite. The room was decent and clean. Breakfast the following morning was reasonable. For the cost I thought it was really good and would happily stay again. Only gripe was fire alarm went off about midnight. Turns out somebody had showered and left door open which caused steam to set off alarm. That needs to be rectified somehow .
The room and en-suite bathroom was clean and tidy. We slept well on the comfortable bed. The staff were nice, helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is a little tired and could do with refurbishment. We pointed out some items in our room that needed attention and management confirmed maintenance would act on them. Rooms: Grande Salle familiale
Booked a double room for 2 nights while visiting family, the room was very basic but clean and tidy, tea and coffee facilities provided in the room plus TV, there was also onsuite facilities with a decent size shower and nice hot water, the only complaint we had was the very hard mattress and my wife woke up with backache every morning but it was only for two nights so we managed, the location was ideal for all the town centre shopping and also queen's Park was only a short walk. Can recommend this hotel.
This hotel was well located to the venue we were attending. The hotel was not great, room was dingy and very tired looking. Lighting was really bad. For instance, there was a hairdryer by a long mirror but no light above it. A dressing table without a lamp or light above it. Room was so hot when we got back at the end of the night and it was a storage heater in the room, so no heating control on the wall. We did not even think about it checking this as they are normally on minimum, well it was like a sauna when we got back to the room, we found the heating control, switched it off and slept with the window open all night - certainly cooled the room down and this was in January! At least we were comfortable and there was not too much noise from outside. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the complimentary coffee from their machine in reception was a bonus. Would we stay there again - no, we would not!
Good budget hotel, in an ideal location. Amenities like bar, free parking and free coffee machine are great. The only issue was the noise from other guests late at night and in the early hours.Rooms: 4/5
Mixed feelings about this hotel..room was filthy upon check in... 3 days with the room uncleaned even if I was asking for it.. some of the male receptionists are very rude and not helpful, but 2 of the ladies are some of the most amazing ever. Helped me out with fresh towels and a handful of tea bags and chocolate to apologise, even if the mistake wasn't theirs..
I really like this hotel. This is my 4 stay here, and the rooms are great. The staff are so helpful and kind. We did not have breakfast this time, but the breakfast is a buffet and very nice and always hot. There have the best coffee and hot chocolate machine. Rooms: The rooms are a good size and the beds are so comfortable. There also extra pillows.
Only stayed for one night but could have easily stayed a few more. Staff were lovely, room was spotless and breakfast was very adequate. 5 minute walk into town centre and plenty of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Would definitely stay here again.Rooms: 5/5
It wasn't absolutely awful, but it wasn't good either, the rooms are nice although some spots had obviously been left uncleaned and the smell wasn't the best when I first went in - smelled like a cat had peed in the room. I found Mentos out of their packaging in an obvious spot in the room, I felt they could have been cleaned up easily by staff. The room didn't have chargers next to the bed, which wasn't the end of the world, still had working plug sockets in the room. However it was clean other then that, nice bed sheets and bedding, toilet was very clean. The location of the hotel was awful. You could hear traffic all night, making it impossible to sleep even if you tried, I got around half an hours rest after trying to sleep for hours. The service was excellent, polite staff, absolutely no issues there. Decent for its price, cheapest in Chesterfield so can't complain, but wouldn't stay here again if I could avoid it. The room was also very hot during the night, with no fans, which meant that also made it harder to sleep - window was open but too loud, no fan in the room. Was hot even with heater off. Nearby activities: Chesterfield has a wide range of stuff to do and Ibis is close to it, but that's really the only good thing - and traffic is a nightmare because of it.
